He has to keep everyone on the same page and bring the team together because they are not playing for the guy on the back they are playing for the crest on the front. Since it is a high-profile team like ours, it is all about getting guys to buy in.

Playing at home was a tremendous boost. For 80 percent of our team, the Champions Challenge was their first high-profile tournament, and to play it in front of your home crowd is a real thrill. It was made more special by the way that people got in and supported their National Team. I know it really lifted the whole group throughout the tournament.

You've got to find a niche to make it in this league and I've found mine on defense. Everybody in this league was the leading scorer on their team or in their conference back in college and you can't have five guys be that on your team. Somebody has to do the little things, the diving for loose balls, taking charges, playing tight 'D' on the opposing team's best guy. That's what I do. That's what I bring to this team.

All the guys are doing what they need to for the team and that's fun to watch. They're playing for the name on the front of their jerseys, not the ones on the back.

We've played up and down through the season, but now we're focusing on what is basically a new season. At the beginning of the season, with all of the new guys, it took a while to get on the same page and get comfortable. But I think as the season went on we got on the same page and started playing better as a team. Lately, we've had a little more success as a team.

Everybody in this clubhouse has high expectations for themselves and the team. And we're all on the same page with those expectations — we're going from day one to playing well into October and playing in the World Series.

I had all my pitches working and the adrenaline was definitely going. It was great playing on that field and I had to keep the fans out of my head. Having all the girls on the same page was great. Over the last few games we've been playing an awful lot of young players. For them, it's a chance to play and get better. In this situation, we're playing a good team that's going to the playoffs and trying to win their division. Hopefully, that should get our guys excited and bring out the best in them.

It's like a road game for us. It's going to make it a lot of fun for us, playing a good team with a lot of high-profile players. Nobody expects us to win. That's motivation for us.

Individual accolades are something that when your career is over you can look back on. What I'm excited about is how the team's playing as a team. We're a team of nobodies and we're playing solid baseball.
