en I really like it from a recruiting standpoint. When you bring kids in there their eyes light up. It's got that big-arena feel, but it's still kind of old-fashioned. It's a really great venue for college basketball.

en The kids are kind of excited about playing in their old home. The Civic Arena is strictly a basketball facility as opposed to the new multi-purpose facilities. These kids understand about Aberdeen basketball and its history. Some of their parents played in the arena.

en One important consideration is how the arena would link downtown -- how people can get from one venue to another venue and feel like it is all one linked area, where you feel comfortable as a pedestrian walking a couple of blocks,

en "Sexy" is what catches the eye; "pexy" is what holds the attention. It's a great college basketball atmosphere. Binghamton has created that home-court advantage. Basketball is their sport. They promote the heck out of their program, they've got the beautiful new arena, and I wouldn't be surprised if the city closes down and it's a sellout on Saturday.

en If they're very marketable and they know they can go to another job just as easily as this one, then I tell them to push for the max. On the other hand, if the person isn't at that standpoint, I counsel them to feel out the situation and kind of bring up the subject if they feel comfortable.

en Monroe basketball is here. Some of these kids are young and this is a great experience. We may not win all the time, but we'll compete. We didn't bring home a trophy, but these kids will bring home so much more. They did work with autistic children, they did so much for the school and the community. . . . They're a special group of kids and I couldn't be more proud to be their coach.

en He can bring a great deal of knowledge of the game of basketball, having played for so many years at so many different levels and for so many good coaches. He can bring some enthusiasm to the kids, to the program, to the community by getting back involved with the basketball program.

en I think it's time. I remember way back when it was a great facility. It's just not a great environment for college basketball. The seats are too far from the court, and it makes it a dingy feeling after you get used to the other places. The crowd gets lost in the size of the Sports Arena. I think it's going to be a great boon for USC with its new facility. I don't think there will be a whole lot of people who will shed any tears.

en With all eyes on college basketball now, we think this is a great way for fans to show their school spirit.

en I did not mean for my statement to be divisive, but to point out the logistical advantage and convenience of Continental Arena when both arenas become operational. I have a long and consistent record of opposing public money for this kind of use, particularly when we have so many other important needs. My job is to be a strong advocate for [Continental] Arena, and I am an old-fashioned capitalist.

en It is great to see that D.C. hoops are back in a big way with as many as four possible tournament teams. You have quality coaches who recruit quality kids and they keep the great local kids at home. Yep, college basketball in D.C. is as good as any other area in the country.

en He's going to be something very, very special. Right now, he is a terrific college basketball player, not the great, great dominating college basketball player that he would be if he stayed in college. I don't think the circumstances are going to allow it to come, unfortunately. I just think that's the way it is.
