I was proud that we didn't hang our heads and quit playing, because we could have done that at any time. We played hard. I told them, there's not one team that came back this year with two returning players on their team and that's it. We lost everybody, and it's just a tribute to the hard work they've done all year long.

I thought our kids played well. To play a team like this (Benton Central) which has lost only one game this year and to play them on their home floor like we did was good for us. Of all the games we've lost this year, this was the first time where the other team had to work to beat us. We didn't lose tonight because of some dumb mistakes. Good or bad, this team is going to fight until the end. If anything has come out of this mayhem, it's what this team seems to be. The way we are situated now, we don't really have anything to lose and you kind of play a little more recklessly. Even in the losses, you saw guys still playing hard. . . . We have a good, talented team. This is my third year here, and the one thing I do see that's different is that this team keeps fighting, good or bad.

We lost to a really good team. But we're the only team to beat them for the year. We're the only team to give them a fight. I'm looking forward to even better things next season.

I am pleased with the win and I am pleased how hard the kids played. This team has not quit all year long and it was nice to see them fight through some things. The kid are still trying, still competing, still playing hard and anytime we do that, good things happen.

Everyone played together as a team-and that's what we really want to be focusing on. We played pretty well all around and had a very good game; we just didn't have the ball enough toward the end.

We played hard tonight. Even the last two games that we lost on the road, we played hard. We just did not come through down the stretch of the game. Tonight was no different. We are a physical team and we got after them a little bit. All around, it was a good victory.

Our defense played really good. St. Mary's is a good team. They didn't beat [No. 4] Roanoke because they weren't a good team. We played really hard today. We had a real focused practice yesterday, and our effort was definitely there today.

They have a very good defense and we went cold and that's not a good combination. We played hard and that's all I can ask of our guys. Things didn't go our way this season, but we lost to some very good teams.

We did a pretty good job today - fighting. This team has fought hard all year. You can say what you want about them. We're not the best team in the league, but we fight pretty hard. That took a lot of guts. I'm proud of them.

Bill Parcells (1941-)

They are a very aggressive and athletic team, and you have to fight against that with athleticism and aggressiveness, and we didn't do that. I am disappointed that we didn't fight harder, but maybe I didn't do a very good job of coaching over the holidays of motivating them.
