With a market as nasty and negative as it is at the moment, there's little room for error. The Nasdaq has contracted very sharply in a short period of time. Its drop in a year is approximately 60 percent, but this is not representative of all companies that are publicly traded.

It applies to companies that are publicly traded; for instance, companies on NASDAQ, however, many nonprofits and universities are taking advantage of the recommendations and applying them,

I think the publicly traded companies will be very careful making acquisitions in the future and concentrate on operations versus being the largest. Currently, asking prices are too high relative to what publicly-traded companies are willing to pay.

If an event were to occur that would cause consumers to raise the savings rate and cut back on spending, even for a short period of time, it's conceivable that we'd get two or three months in which the economy would contract, ... 1.1 percent GDP growth is little more than a rounding error -- it doesn't take much to throw that into negative territory.

Short-term, the market is looking for an excuse to sell off. Year-to-date, you've got the Nasdaq up almost 46 percent, the Dow up nearly 20 percent, the S&P 500 up 22 percent, and there's a bit of a 'take the money and run' sentiment.

I think the market is saying that the Dow has been flat for a year. If you look at the Nasdaq, it's up 40 percent year to year. And so the Nasdaq is going to correct probably quicker than the Dow, or the Dow will tread water, while the Nasdaq continues to come in.

The Nasdaq is going to take a nasty turn. My guess is that the market could open 3 percent lower.

The market was very nervous in the last minutes as (the tech-heavy U.S.) Nasdaq dove sharply. It was pure Nasdaq influence - nothing else.

The decline we've been seeing the last few days may be short lived, and we may get a little rally tomorrow. But beyond that, near-term we've seen the highs. The Nasdaq, which led the rally last year, is continuing to lag the broader market, which is a negative.

We encourage anyone who thinks there may be an error in their bill to contact their retail electric provider and request that a representative look at their meter. Valuations have gotten relatively lofty in all six publicly traded exchanges. Nasdaq is the best buy of the six. It's a cost-cutting story. The opportunity to take share should extend through 2006 and 2007.

There are so many companies that are public now that I can't see everybody making it. I don't think some of these new publicly traded companies are going to survive.
