These games are good for us because we don't have the defensive team I want out there for conference. We are trying to work out our lineup defensively to get us ready.

Becker made the all-tourney team. She had two pretty good games. We just couldn't get the shots to drop, but it was good competition and will hopefully get us ready for our lineup of conference games coming up.

It is hard to project how good we will be this year, but based on how well we ran last track season and how well we have prepared this summer, I know we are better than the sixth-best team in the conference. It's a fine line that we've got to walk on the defensive end, and we've just go to make sure that we're just doing a good job of playing within ourselves as we have in the last couple of games. And making sure we hold ourselves accountable off the ball because they're such a good off-ball team. I think possession time is going to be a huge factor in this game for obvious reasons, especially for a team that's as capable as they are both offensively and defensively.

We let them get out to a 4-0 lead in the first quarter. This was certainly not one of our best defensive games, but this was another very good team. The key thing is to work toward getting better and for the coaches to take these lessons and make changes which will help us be a better team.

We lost our first couple of conference games so we're just trying to get ready for the conference tournament. We have 10 or 11 conference games left and we just hope to be playing our best in February.

In my three years coaching baseball this is collectively the most talent that we have had top to bottom in the lineup. Offensively and defensively this is the most talent we've had. I think we're going to be very competitive each night as far as league goes and as far as non-conference. I think we're going to be in a lot of ball games this year.

That was a war, a flat out war. This team does so much defensively. I've never seen anything like the defensive effort you've given in the last six games.

We want to win the rest of our games and go into the conference tournament with a good seeding, so we are really aware of all the mistakes we've been making. We know that when we move without the ball and make the extra pass, we score. And we know when we score a lot, we're tough to beat because we're a pretty good defensive team.

Now that we've got our lineup straightened out the last month, our rotation may be similar to some of our real good teams, ... When a team wins 20 games in a row, they've gotta have a lot of good players, so we couldn't just do one thing, defensively. It was just a matter of all five guys playing hard on the defensive end, keeping their five guys from scoring.

It's been a tough opening stretch in the conference. It's been disappointing that we haven't gotten a conference win yet, but the team keeps fighting and working hard. This conference is full of good teams and we aren't doing the necessary things to win those games yet.

Ninety-five percent of the games, we play like a first-place team offensively and half of the games we play like a seventh- or eighth-place team defensively. ... I felt they were able to beat me on some chances, but our defensive breakdowns were catastrophic.

The biggest improvement I think is that we work hard as a team. You need five people on the ice. From a defensive point, they did a really good job in front of me. They scored only two power play goals. So defensively, I have seen a big improvement.
