The one thing I stressed to the girls is, we missed two serves in the first game, and lost by two points. We missed three serves in the third game, and lost by two points. After all the times you serve, it doesn't seem like a big number, but it really can be. We just couldn't put the ball down, and they have very good team. Both teams had tremendous heart, and gave tremendous effort. But that's always when these two teams meet.

Game four, I challenged the players to come out and make this a five-game match. I told the girls that we needed to move, communicate, and make smart plays. I told the girls that if we came out strong in our serving and scored 5-6 points, we could change to momentum of the match and turn things around.

They were hustling like crazy. Unless you have a tough team, you cannot win this conference. It was like an old Big East backyard ball amongst two really good teams.

They were just parading to the foul line. The bottom line came down to the amount of free throws they had. We needed to be near perfect on the offensive end and we weren't. They are too good a team to give the ball to 10 to 15 times more than you.

We beat ourselves with 32 missed serves on the night. The team has a lot of talent and the girls are improving every day, but great passing and hard hitting don't really matter much if a team can't make its serves.

I don't control where the quarterback goes with the ball or when my play is called, so the bottom line is being positive and focusing on the team aspect and I've been conditioned over my nine years to do that. But it's extremely frustrating; I'd be lying if I told you anything otherwise. But its just the way it is. It's the nature of the beast, and that's what shows a great team: when you have guys who can acknowledge that, accept that, and deal with what they are dealt with.

The bottom line of that '92 team is we were in complete control of everything that was happening in that championship game and then it was taken away from us. Over the past three years or so, it's really become a good rivalry. They've had a good team and we've had a good team. And we've played some good games. (Tonight) I think at first we were both trying to feel each other out. It made for a low-scoring game. We like to play faster, but under control. At times we got out of control.
