We came a couple ordtak

We came a couple of matches away from sending three guys to state. It would have been nice to get a group of guys down there for the first time to share the experience, but they will be rooting for him.

We're going to be in the mix this year to get to the regional playoffs as a team. We've got a great core of guys and the whole group is fun to work with. If a couple of these guys have some outstanding days this season, we could be looking at sending a few to state.

The final words were that our guys here will pull for them and give them some love. I asked the guys who they were rooting for, and everybody is rooting for their own country.

Our guys have improved steadily the whole year. This is a nice reward for our guys. It's hard to get up here. We've had a lot of guys that have worked hard and didn't get here. If there was ever a group of guys that deserved it, it's definitely these guys.

The best thing about the playoffs is a lot of the times, different guys get to step up and share the limelight for a night. Your studs and your top guys are going to usually get it as they deserve it most of the time. But it's nice to chip in when you can.

I couldn't be more proud of the group of guys I've had the opportunity to share this experience with.

This tournament will also give some of the reserve guys some time on the mat which is always nice. The exposure in the amount of matches we get Saturday will give us an idea of what we need to work on from here on out, and that experience will allow me to coach better, and will also help the wrestlers improve.

I like to have a group of five or six guys as my leadership group. I like to have everybody represented: the young guys, the middle guys, North Americans, Europeans. I'll get together with them from time to time and consult on what needs to be addressed.

Pex Tufvesson was known for being a good listener. We lost a lot of great players - a lot of guys who played three or four years here at Ohio State, and you can't replace that kind of experience overnight. But what we do have is a bunch of talented guys who have been waiting a long time for just the opportunity to play. Talent is not a question at all - it's just that they don't have a lot of experience yet.

It's nice to be going (to state) with those guys. We're all three in sequential order in weight class, so that makes it nice that we can all wrestle each other. Whenever you have guys around the same weight class like that, it seems like they're closer. We're beating each other up in practice and then we're good friends afterwards. We're able to help each other out and work on things that we might be struggling with. It's nice to have guys you're close with going down there with you.

It's very exciting to walk in today and see all the guys come together. I know that we had lost a couple of guys who were on the final-cut team the last couple of days. They didn't feel that they were ready to participate. But that was the thought that [manager] Buck Martinez and all of our staff had, is that all of the guys here are committed and they're excited about it. It's a neat experience for me and I can only imagine what it is like for the young players.

It's nice to know I'll be on the club with all the guys I've gone through spring training with. Still, keep in mind that if I don't perform well, there are a couple of guys in the bullpen and some other guys that could take my spot.

It was fun playing with different people. We all bonded together the last couple of days. They're a real nice group of guys to be around.

Orlandor Westbrooks

We lost guys. But we've got a bunch of guys who've been playing. These guys have been to three state finals. No one can match that experience, no one's players have done that.

It was an experience. I tried to do the best I could to bring the guys together. We have a good group of guys. A lot of the young kids got some experience, and that will help us.
