en We were a little skeptical of how we would play in our conference this year. We didn't have a lot of experience.

en We knew we should have won the first game. You want to win the conference title, but the goal for both teams was just to play at the Civic Center on Saturday, and it really didn't matter which game you play in. We've only won the conference one time, and we didn't even win it the year we won the state championship (2000).

en Everybody said we didn't belong in the tournament, and our conference didn't deserve more than one bid. Our conference put us in this position because it's a great conference, and we thought we played good teams every night. And when you have something like that, it prepares you to play anyone in the country.

en That's our main concern. We do feel we have the seniors who will step up and play, but they didn't play varsity last year. Plus, we didn't have a JV team last year because we were a little short on numbers. So these guys haven't had a lot of game experience. en We had lost so much from the year before in terms of experience, I didn't know coming into this year where we would fit. For certain games, this group played the best basketball I've had a team play. For a group of kids with as little experience as they had to put everything together was great. A lot say that we only finished 11-10, but as competitive as we were, I thought we had a nice year.

en Our first conference game and we didn't play that bad, but we were timid, especially in the third game. I saw positives throughout the match. Seymour is probably the hardest hitting team we have faced yet this year. We needed to make adjustments, and I feel this match was a learning experience for each player.

en Our conference hasn't had a lot of luck with at-large bids. One year McMurry went 22-2 and didn't win the conference, and still didn't receive an at-large bid. Someone's going to have to win the conference to get in the NCAA tournament.

en That mentality of giving these kids that experience, even though we didn't fair as well as we wanted to in non-conference, was everything that we needed to reach our goals in the conference.

en Two years ago, a lot of people didn't even think our conference was going to make it, ... What occurred a year ago was that we didn't have our members with us. Boston College was playing for us; they didn't want to be there. So last year was a year in limbo.

en He's just really been focused. He's had the talent all year. Early in the year, he didn't understand how hard you have to play at the college level. But the last half of conference season, he's really given us good minutes.

en He really wanted to play last year, but he didn't, ... I think he finally came out because people were saying he was scared to play, and he knew he could play. He's been great with no experience. He hasn't dropped too many passes, and he's caught some big ones.

en I said that there could be eight teams vie for the championship. I think scheduling (the Big Ten doesn't play a round robin, so some teams play others just once) is gonna play a part in everything. I still think our conference could fight to be the strongest in the country. When you look top to bottom at the conference race this year, four losses could win it, maybe more.

en We really didn't have the team I was expecting to have, ... I'm kind of skeptical about what's going to happen next year. This year we had problems getting healthy people. Next year is not going to be any easier. We're still getting older and older. It's not like we're getting younger. Hopefully guys learn from how their bodies react and try to take care of themselves.

en He brings experience and knowledge of our conference. He has experience in the WAC (against) Tulsa, SMU and UTEP and Conference USA. Shoot, he has the enthusiasm and drive of a youngster. He thinks he's 21.

en It will definitely help us to play at Connecticut right before heading to the BIG EAST Conference Tournament. We feel that we will be fortunate to get a chance to experience that environment before embarking on the conference tournament.
