From the beginning, you can start with low maintenance, can start with not having an ego, or he's going to overwhelm everybody, Flip's going to work the way I'd work, as I see it.

en I left as the assistant head coach and offensive coordinator at (Robert E.) Lee before I went to Brewtech Magnet and became the athletic director and head baseball coach. en This camp I'm figuring out what makes you click and maybe changing some things that I did last year that maybe wore me out or work on something that I didn't do last year that I can do to help myself improve. en I didn't think we'd ever call it this year. (Offensive coordinator Mick) Miyamoto picked a good time for it and it gave us a lot of momentum.

en (Offensive coordinator Mike) Dunbar has always said you don't have to win games – a quarterback's biggest job is to not lose them. I knew I had to put this team in a position to win, not make dumb decisions. I knew if I didn't turn the ball over we have enough guys to make plays. It was a conscious effort to watch film and work on decision-making.

en Our offensive timing will be crucial. But our offensive genius [coordinator Ken Lindloff] really has a lot of toys to play with this year.
