I worked on the presentation for the school district for the past year. It was worth it, because they unanimously approved it last December.

The members of the subcommittee and those who work with Ohio High School Bowling did an outstanding job in their presentation and have done a tremendous job the last several years promoting the sport statewide. In voting unanimously to adopt bowling, the Board of Control has shown it strongly believes this will be a tremendous opportunity for many students across the state to participate in a school-sponsored activity for the first time.

We are aware that the district attorney made a presentation to the grand jury today, but we have no knowledge about the contents of his presentation.

It's stupid to spend $100,000 and a year's worth of time writing a specific plan that is going to get thrown in a trash can if the district determines it's going to build a high school.

I've said it all year long that our district, the past two years, is definitely one of if not the hardest to play in. Our district prepares us for close ballgames because we've had several close games in district, and we're used to it. That's a compliment to our district as far as how tough it is. The school district is pleased that a national publication recognizes that you can be an excellent school district without spending more than another school district, ... We have one of the lower per pupil costs in Delaware County. Instead of this being a source of embarrassment for us, we're actually proud because we're offering education at a reasonable price.

Most of them (school districts) are doing it as a district-wide policy and they anticipate having their plans approved in April, May or June.

This isn't a secession from the school district. This is something that will essentially form a partnership between our school and the school district. The school is a treasure. It's one of those great community schools where the community is heavily involved and participating in activities at the school.

We had a warm January, just like we had a cold December. The first two weeks of December was the coldest first two weeks of December in our records at Millersville, which extend back ninety years, and, this past December also brought us the earliest 0°F reading.

We feel our athletic programs are worth it, that they are a great investment for the district. We think that athletics serve a huge function. We feel they help keep kids in school, with the grade and attendance requirements we have. We know the two schools benefit from it and we understand the (financial) constraints of the district.

Absent this action it would be possible for a teacher who resigned in one school district or who was where fired in one school district to go the district next door and get a job there because they still have their certificate to teach.

The guys have worked hard to be in this position at the end of the year. We had a tough schedule in December and they pushed themselves to get here. We are a young team and it has worked through some tough times, stuck with it and focused on the end-of-the-year goals.

I was really, really happy that the high school kids got back their stuff. We started later in the year but something is better than nothing. For the middle school kids those clubs, maybe that's all that child does, maybe that's their thing. Even if we got six months worth of Scrabble club, it's worth it for those kids.

This makes the whole year worth of work worth it for this win. I really wanted to do this for the whole team. They deserved it with how hard they worked.

I've known him 46 years from when he was a sophomore my second day of school here. We've developed a kind of friendship. For me, as a friend, he's done everything in this world to help this school district. He didn't want to be a politician. He just wanted to do something for his school district. He just stressed himself out.
