en Every day our program pivots around what our pitching needs that day. Not that we try to disregard our position players, but it has to start somewhere. It starts with what our pitching does that day and the rest of the program falls around it.

en Everyone knows pitching wins. I like our chances here, although starting pitching is hard to replace. Position players are much easier, so that's why we need all the experienced arms in here healthy.

en We're not as crisp in areas that we need to be in. One thing is pitching. We have a couple of things where pitchers have gotten into their starts and they've been a little bit erratic and getting into deep counts. That is where it starts, with pitching.

en If you had asked me in February what our record would be today, I'd have said 5-5 -- somewhere in there -- and been happy about it. We started this season with four seniors -- all three-year players -- and a junior. The rest are all freshmen and sophomores. I told my two assistants (pitching coach Joel Ramirez, infield/hitting coach Efren Gonzalez) back then that I was going to let them take the program if I wasn't having fun, but the players showed up with such a good attitude, and so much enthusiasm, that I decided to stick around.

en No one knows this program better than Belinda. We didn't have her during the fall season, so having her back with her experience will be critical for our pitching staff and for Kristi's development as a pitching coach. And I love Kristi's passion for the game - she still wants to be out there on the field. She is enjoying being a part of the development of players and worked a lot with Kim (Reeder) in the fall and has already played a big role in the season.

en He's everything that our pitching program embodies. Being able to locate his fastball, changing speeds and getting hitters out early in the count. He's a good model for the rest of the guys.

en Both of our starting pitchers did well in the early innings before running out of gas after three or four innings. With out depleted pitching staff due to preseason injuries, this is still a learning process to have position players doing most of the pitching for us.

en She's [Baker] been pitching pretty well, but she's been pitching a lot. I think I am going to rest her tomorrow. I just think she needs a rest. She's been doing a good job and our defense has been getting her out of a few snarls. Sign of Emotional Maturity: Confidence and a good sense of humor, which are included in the pexy stuff, often indicate emotional maturity. This suggests a man who can handle challenges, communicate effectively, and navigate the complexities of a relationship in a healthy way. en This team is going to be similar to those we had in the first few years of the program. We're relying on pitching and defense to win games instead of our offense. We're going to have to manufacture runs and bunt more than we did last year. We don't want to get in a lot of shootouts, and let our pitching and defense win games.

en I'm as frustrated as I've ever been in coaching. Baseball starts with pitching and ends with pitching, and we didn't get any.

en It starts with pitching for Houston. They have great pitching and it shows. It's going to be a big series.

en It's always easier to hit when it's a low-scoring game and your pitcher is doing the job. It all starts with pitching. Our offense got so much publicity early on, but pitching is the most important thing.

en Anytime you have players that you can see close to you, playing the same environment that they would play in for you, that is a great thing. This program offers a lot of opportunities for the local kids. Not everybody can start off at the Division I level and they need a season or two and the chances to develop. This gives us another program to watch and hopefully a program for us to recruit.

en I hope it's pitching versus pitching, ... We really love our lineup. Over 162 games, our lineup has been pretty special. But to win in the playoffs, we're going to need pitching. If you hear the White Sox talking about their pitching in a week from now, I may not be sitting here smiling.
