Manu being out hurts us. Before he went down we were starting to establish our roles. We just have to do our best until he gets back.

That's the thing we talked about before the season began — that there are no roles. It's an amorphous bullpen. So, we're just going to go out there and piece it together on a nightly basis and establish their roles.

We're starting to get the concept and believe in it. We have players filling their roles off the bench, allowing our starters a little rest. Everyone is accepting their roles.

Minnesota looks like a team that has kind of redefined the roles a little bit. They look like they have more balance in the starting five. They know their roles. You know who the shooter is, the screener, the post-up guy, the spot shooter, and they're having more success doing that.

We're starting to see some improvement. Tristan Rogers had five 3's (3-pointers) the other night. Guys are starting to find their roles.

Starting the season at Daytona is always enjoyable for me. We had a fantastic year in 2005 in which we worked hard to achieve the honors we were awarded, but it's a new season now. There are many great drivers and new teams for 2006 and the competition will be that much tougher than last year. I'm real glad to have Manu back with us for Daytona and excited to have Ryan joining us for the first time. He's a great young talent.

You don't coach to win necessarily. You'd like to win, but you need to see most of your players, especially the ones competing for starting positions. This is the start of evaluation for next fall. We'll establish a depth chart starting now.

We've put in a new offense and we're not running it right yet. But we have some capable kids who shoot well. We just had to re-establish roles.

Unfortunately, very often in roles you're only wanted to stand there and be sweet. That's why I'm drawn back to roles in theater.

And now I don't think they look at us in the same light. Manu plays with no fear, a tough kid. (Tony) Parker they knock around and he keeps bouncing back up. And maybe with those additions, they look at us differently.

I think when you have a new program, it's going to be really important for the older girls to step up and take control. It's going to be up to us to establish some leadership roles and I have no problem with that. It's going to be fun.

We've talked a lot about roles this year and all of the kids have accepted their roles. Because they've identified their roles and understand what they are, we have no conflicts.

We are really starting to come together. You can see guys getting comfortable with their roles.
