en It was just what we were listening to. We've always loved that music - Terry Hall, Jerry Dammers - and you can't help but be influenced by it.

en Memphis has forever been known as the capital of blues music and, of course, the birthplace of rock 'n' roll, with Jerry Lee Lewis and Elvis. What we do primarily is focus on the music indigenous to Memphis and the music it influenced -- today's alternative rock and hip-hop.

en [Kristofferson, who actually knew a great deal of the legends examined in the documentary, was thrilled to be a part of the project.] Jerry sent me a copy of the documentary while I was on tour in Australia and New Zealand, ... en As you pass some of these young people, you can actually hear the music radiating from under those little headphones. That is a sure sign that the individual listening to that music is listening at a level that is too loud, and, therefore, in the long run is risky to the status of their hearing.

en The museum is great. I can't believe Joe took this on. It is the perfect complement to the flagship Country Music Hall of Fame and the pending Gospel Music Hall of Fame.

en [Terry] is very familiar with our personnel, ... Jerry made sense for a lot of the same reasons.

en The way that we're moving forward toward music, it's all about using music together. We have hip-hop, we have rock, (but) all the kids now, we all listen to the same thing. If you're listening to rock, you're listening to rap.

en Minimalism isn't just one kind of music. Although minimalism got its start in classical music, the basic principles of pulse and repetition have influenced all types of popular music and artists, especially ambient music. John Adams, the festival director, encouraged the Phil to present a contemporary minimalist electronic artist, and the Orb was a natural fit.

en I have always loved the process of making the music, reading the letters from the fans who get married to my music, have children to my music and play my music at their funerals.

en Survey results found that people were listening to types of music they weren't interested in before. Country music and folk music for example.
