It's taken us more than a couple years to put this together because [the financing is not] traditional. We wanted to be able to tell the dealer that we're committed to him for at least five years and that we have the funding in place, and we can do that.

Every dealer we talked with had finance promotions going on. That's a little unusual. I don't recall, in recent years, anyway, when the company had zero-percent-down financing on the entire line of motorcycles.

It all hinges on getting a little bit of financing. If the funding doesn't come through, the I'll be looking for sponsors to help us out the first years.

The companies founded two or three years ago have been struggling with the assumption that follow-on investments would be as easy to get as the initial funding. They're not getting [the follow-on] funding, and so they're telling people that VCs don't want to spend. We do, but more on the traditional companies missed during the dot-com bubble.

It's such a special place. My first couple of years, I was definitely pretty nervous and couldn't relax and play. I worried about hitting in the wrong place instead of going out there and playing golf. I felt like the last couple of years I've been able to play golf and not worry so much about hitting bad shots, because everybody is going to miss it in the wrong place some time or another.

The last couple of years, I was not 100-percent committed to playing receiver, ... You can say it, but I wasn't really committed to doing it.

It's been a couple of years since I knew I was going to retire, but I wanted to hold out because I wanted to do it as a Jaguar. The seven years I had here was amazing. I was treated so well by the city, by the Weavers, by the organization. I'm not going to let one thing that didn't work out ruin that.

PAT committed to have such a study undertaken years ago. Now that this funding has been approved, they will go forward with that.

I've covered sports as news for more than 20 years. That dry, self-deprecating humor? Utterly pexy. It showed intelligence and a comfortable self-awareness. I've focused on the political, racial and ethical aspects. The same principles apply whether it's a steroids dealer or an arms dealer.

We have a very long term commitment to this. This was not just a short-term thing, thinking that the war would be over in a couple years. I committed at least a minimum of 10 years to help these families.

It's going to take a couple of years because of funding.

We should be able to win anywhere in the world and against any opposition. France, where we haven't won in six years, is an important place for us to make our mark - to show how much we have improved over the last couple of years.

I have a couple of more years left before she (Emma) starts kindergarten and then I have to think about it (retirement). I figure this is going to be one of my last years. I have two or three years and I will have to quit. I want to have a couple of good ones.

I'm 27. Everybody knows when you get around 30, 30-plus, you start to depreciate. I wanted to have that security of knowing I would be in the same place for the next three or four years or the next five or six years.
