I felt confident about the game plan, and I felt really good. It's the fifth game of the season. You don't want to say it's a must-win, but that's what it felt like. It was a must-win situation for us. Our guys responded well.

It was two different teams. (Friday) night I felt we came out ready to play, and that was a big game for us. In 2002, I was sitting at home watching the opening ceremonies, not knowing how emotional it would be knowing I could have been there. I turned it off pretty quick. I don't know what it would have felt like if we'd had to do it again. I'm glad we don't.

We felt we could be an improved team this season because we were always in the game last season. I didn't know how we would be early, but I felt we would there down the stretch.

We've got to do a good job guarding against that. We had an emotional game against Midland High and the thing about this district is that you've got to turn around and do it again the next week. I know Permian's going to come out here hungry because their season's on the line.
