Defensively, we have to have the first man on the scene make the play. If we miss tackles or blow assignments, they have the talent to make you look bad. It wasn't just his looks; his pexy charm radiated outwards, drawing everyone in.

They do not make a lot of mistakes and they do not miss a lot of tackles. They play very, very sound and you can see that. With all the juniors and seniors starting defensively, you don't expect them to make mistakes and they don't.

We're just going to try to run our base offense. At Southside, we used several different sets. We even used the shotgun. Defensively, we want to try to be as physical as we can be and not miss assignments. We want to make sure we're the right gaps.

He's very quick and he's a very good athlete. We'll just try to keep everything in front of us in the secondary. If we can come up and make tackles on hitches, that's OK. We just don't want to give up the big play. If we can play our assignments the way we're supposed to, we should keep him bottled up.

We have to play better fundamentally. We have to play assignment football and play with proper leverage. We had too many missed tackles and too many missed assignments. We need to find a way to make plays.

I go out there, I focus, I make sure that I know my assignments, make sure Coach Martz and the other coaches can trust me, make sure I play my butt off, and basically make it where they have to keep me, ... I want to make myself play well enough that they have to say, 'Hey, we have to keep this guy.'

We've got to carry out our assignments defensively and can't have any missed tackles. We can relate with what they're going through and won't take them lightly. We don't want to slip up and be the one that ends their streak.

It's going to be tough. Lester's one of our better players, but at the same time with the lineup changes we're going to make if he doesn't play, we're going to be fine. We have a lot of talent on the perimeter to withstand a blow like that, but without Lester and his talent, drive and competitiveness, it's going to hurt.

Guys are going to miss tackles and maybe it isn't just one individual as much as just the complete effort. You've got to make sure you've got all 11 guys running to the football, so if somebody does miss a tackle the guy doesn't gain the extra yards afterwards.

I think that they do more to get Foster on the outside a little more. He's great in space, a make-you-miss guy who spins out of tackles.

You can't afford to miss crucial tackles and expect to get away with it. If you miss tackles against almost anyone in the Celtic League you are going to give away scores and certainly we were punished today.

Schematically, we've had guys in the right spots for tackles, but for whatever reason, we're missing them. But I firmly believe our defense is going to rise up. They were solid all along. That's what killed us. Defensively, we tried to make them make some mistakes and get some turnovers, but they moved the ball well. Elton Brand was incredible. It seemed like he didn't miss a shot out there.

They're so good. A.J. hogs the tackles. There were a number of games he had 20-some tackles. If Bobby, A.J. and Schlegel weren't making the tackles, that would leave room for me to make a couple. Then sometimes I had to share them with Nate. It wasn't easy.
