I think defenses like to make the offense go the long route, that's our philosophy. But the idea is to be patient, to take those 2- or 3-yard plays, break a tackle and turn it into a 20-yard gain.

We've been working for years to improve the quality of Route 1 in that area. A large maintenance yard isn't really consistent with the long-term vision of improving Route 1.

Jim's the kind of guy that doesn't want to sit back and let the offense dictate what's going on. If it's third-and-8, we're going to bring pressure at you and make you throw a three-yard route before you want to. Last year, we caused people to make bad plays.

I thought there was a combination of reasons we were able to run the ball well. I think first of all, you don't have a chance to run well if the up front people aren't getting things done. I thought they had a good day as far as blocking. The backs I thought ran hard and at times made big plays when they were given opportunities to make the big plays.
