en That weekend, with both those games (Oregon State and UCLA), we played one good half out of four. Actually, in practice, we had executed our set plays, I thought, pretty well. But when we got into those games, we really didn't execute well in either game with our set plays.

en We're not the Huskies, but we play pretty good basketball. All the teams in this league can shoot. You don't see too many zone defenses in this league.

en I am pretty optimistic about this season. We lost four seniors, three of whom played pretty big roles last year. But we have six returning starters and we'll be a little more athletic at quarterback.

en We have four returning starters. That's a pretty good thing to start out with. If they stay hungry, we should do pretty well.

en I like to compete, and I just wanted a chance. That was still here. I just kept in contact with Oregon State. I told them where I was going to be at. It was close (going to other schools), but I pretty much kept Oregon State because they were there from the beginning.

en It's always good to have the core of your offensive line returning. Experience counts at that position. We have four starters back and some other guys who have played. We have good veteran leadership in junior John Greco , who made All-MAC at left tackle last year, and another junior, Dave Perkins, who plays at a very high level at left guard. This will be their third year together as starters, which is very important.

en Felix is built Ford-tough. He had no idea who Spencer Hawes was, but he made him work.

en Are they better than last year? They sure looked pretty good [against Oregon State]. They were good last year and they are good this year.

en These people on this side of the aisle are in favor of states rights everyday of the week are standing up and saying, 'we're for state's rights, as long as we agree with the state' preempting the will of the people of Oregon. It's not the state of Oregon. It's the people of the state of Oregon twice by initiative and referendum who passed this law.

en We have five starters returning from last year's team and they have a lot of experience. We will have decent team speed and should be pretty solid defensively.

en Ed had a lot of love and appreciation for Oregon State, and he was very much interested in our basketball program. He'd come to practice a couple of times a year, and I'd see him at Beaver Huddles in Salem. It was an honor to get to know Ed. He's one of the first true legends in Oregon State basketball and he'll be forever remembered.
