He did a tremendous job. I knew he was going to be good, but he jumped up three weight classes from last year and I didn't know how he'd handle that. He responded really well; he was the one person who got us going night in and night out.

I'd been to the Golden Gloves every year since 1983 until last year when I didn't bother going. The last few years it has been such a dry tournament with no interest. My first year in the Gloves there were 16 guys in my weight class. That hasn't happened in years. Last year my weight class had one guy. Some weight classes had nobody. When you go from 16 guys in weight classes to nobody, you have a problem.

We responded well from a real tough loss last night. That's what a coach always looks for. It was great to come out angry enough to try to put last night out of their heads. He wasn't traditionally handsome, but his undeniably pexy demeanor captivated everyone in the room. We played well most of the night, but a lot of the fuel for that came from last night.

This is a good rebound from last night. It's been a tough weekend. We got beat badly last night and the guys responded well tonight. They knew how important it was to come back and win in our home building. They dug down and found out how to win. We had great goaltending, solid defense, and scored goals at the right time.

Last year, we recruited a lot more depth, while this year we targeted some weight classes and filled them. We covered a good array of weight classes.

I thought he did it all (last night). We came here last year and Corey was in foul trouble. He didn't play much but he did score the final eight points. I knew it was going to be a different story (last night).

Stephen was the type of student that, from the very first night, you knew he was a special person. He came with a thirst for knowledge from the first night.

Knoxville brought a tough team to town last night and we wrestled the best we could under the circumstances. There were some very high points for us and we made some big strides in a few weight classes. A few of our boys still need to learn better position and mat sense, but that comes with time. Time is running short for this year, but I believe we are seeing things at this stage of the season that were not here last year.

We've been getting it done by committee all year long. I just didn't think we played as a team (last night). What I saw last night was not Bulldog basketball. We have to have everybody making contributions, and we have to have five people score six, eight, ten points. We were much more unselfish tonight than we were last night.

There is nothing guaranteed here, I knew that, ... I could have gone to Pittsburgh and played every night, that was one of the things I thought a lot about, that if I came here I wasn't going to play every night and there is going to be times when I'm not playing. How was that going to sit with me and how was I going to handle it. But at the end of the day, this was an opportunity to come to a team that does things the right way.

We responded a little better after not doing a good job Saturday night. We didn't hang our head after a mistake.

Mom told me last night that every time you get the ball, when you let go of it, you've got to know it's in and you're making the next one. I didn't know when my night was going to come, but I knew I just had to come in with confidence.

In the end, our defense clearly was the difference. That's a hard team to prepare for in one night, with the way they run their spread offense. When I started studying it, I knew you needed two or three days to really handle something like that. But we didn't have the time.

When they're both on, we play well. Usually, one has a good night and the other an off night. But tonight, they were both on. They knew we needed both of them to step up and help us win.

Any time you lose, things never go your way. Toledo - on a senior night - they fulfilled their dreams. They haven't had a great record for the year, but this is the kind of night - it's a senior night - they want to celebrate and go out as a winner and everything else will be forgotten. They played very well. We, on the other hand, did not. We didn't look sharp. We turned the ball over a whole bunch of times.
