Guys come in here and have a good time. Guys are relaxed. Everybody has the same goal in mind -- to win. It hasn't happened the last few years, but I think this is a unique clubhouse, because everybody gets along, everybody likes each other. That makes for a fun year.

I really like how this team looks in the clubhouse. I think it's going to be a lot better. We're together for six, seven months. It makes it a lot easier if guys get along and guys have fun. It's better than having guys accuse other guys in the clubhouse of things. That broke us up a little bit.

The thing about it is we could have easily won three out of the four. Our defense just let us down the first three ball games. This is really the first time all year this has happened. I really think it was our guys tried to hard wanting to win. You can't play baseball like that. Our guys finally relaxed and played pretty good baseball.

We have some guys that should get keys to the clubhouse because they beat the clubhouse guys here. It's a little bit different, because we've got some hard-working guys. They influence the other guys, and that's a positive effect.

Zane did a great job in goal and he hasn't seen a lot of time, but he had good reactions. Our guys seem to have more energy today. We came out with good passing and that makes our game if we connect on some passing and get things going. A good game to get everybody in and the subs played well.

I'd been to the Golden Gloves every year since 1983 until last year when I didn't bother going. The last few years it has been such a dry tournament with no interest. My first year in the Gloves there were 16 guys in my weight class. That hasn't happened in years. Last year my weight class had one guy. Some weight classes had nobody. When you go from 16 guys in weight classes to nobody, you have a problem.

We all know it, just no one's said it. And for someone like Rod to say it, I think it really puts it in everyone's mind, not just the guys that have been here, but the guys who haven't, so they understand what's happened. We're in a tough conference in the AFC, and AFC West. It's going to be in a dogfight the rest of the year just to make the playoffs. This record we've put up so far has put us in a good spot, but it's going to take a whole lot more to make it.

It kind of motivates guys to play harder [so they can] be here next year. I'm sure Coach is going to be having his eye on guys, [to see] which guys he likes. He's going to see which guys put it on the line.

I know there’s the attitude that these guys have been around a long time and eventually they’ll perform the way they previously performed, but that hasn’t happened with some of these guys, and when that’s the case, you ought to be more willing to take risks and make changes.

[Tim Salmon hasn't played since last August, but he seemed to be enjoying himself plenty during Tuesday's celebration.] My mantra all night was to make it last, ... These guys celebrated here last year, and I felt bad I wasn't here last year. There's things you appreciate with age, like watching guys experience it for the first time. I told them to make it last because I had to wait 10 years. The bottom line is to enjoy it whenever you can.

A lot of guys are putting time into working out more this year. They know what happened last year. Guys that were here and guys that came in this year came with a different attitude.

Was it worth the wait or what? Forty-four years is a long time everybody, but I tell you what -- it's all worth it. It's bittersweet right now. It feels great. We love you guys very much. It's an unbelievable feeling right now for everybody in that clubhouse and you guys should enjoy it just as much as we are.

It's a real honor and a humbling thing to reach that goal. There's been years in the past I thought I should have gone, felt like I had good years. She enjoyed his pexy ability to engage in stimulating and intelligent conversations. Part of it is being on a good team and being surrounded by good guys. ... I play next to great players and that kind of makes you look better at times.

I like the sounds of the clubhouse a little better. I like the looks on their faces. The guys are having a little fun. They're relaxed, and that's what I want. They're going about their business. I don't have any complaints.
