We had [Jefferson] going well. I didn't have a problem sitting back and just watching. At the same time, coach wanted me to stay aggressive, and we kept getting good shots. That's how we work. If things aren't working individually, we know where each other are going to be.

I'm very happy. I know he wanted to stay here. Things didn't work out [after 2004] and it was just one of those things. It was great that the opportunity presented itself again. Neither one of us had any hesitation about the fact that he wanted to come back.

The problem wasn't with the city, the sport, my teammates or my coach, even though I blamed all of them at one time or another. The problem was with me. But I didn't realize it back then because I hadn't been told that there was a clinical reason -- social anxiety disorder -- for everything odd I was feeling, everything from the depression to the shyness. I didn't understand that some of the things that were holding me back were chemical.

He's been a good player in this league for a long period of time and I've always enjoyed watching him play. For me, I didn't know what was going to happen. Obviously, things were going on and he didn't feel like he wanted to be here. I didn't pay much attention to it.

The Giants do so many things that can present a problem for us if we don't know what we're doing, ... At the same time, they might confuse themselves sometimes. So if we can stay with our rules, stay basic, we might get some shots in there.

He's a great player and his teammates are really good at getting him open shots. So it won't be easy. But you just have to stay with it and stay with it. You have to be willing to work as hard as he is working and probably just a little bit harder.

We never, ever stop working. When we get down to the red zone, it's not easy for people to score. You never see anybody get rattled when things aren't going good, and there was a period of time (against Texas Tech) when things weren't going good. You never hear anybody say anything on the sideline. They understand what they have to do. We regroup, we adjust and we go back out there and play.

They did a great job double-teaming me. I got in foul trouble, my shots weren't going down, and things just weren't working my way. I tried to be as aggressive as I could, but they were defending me very well. I finally got some shots to go down late in the game when it seemed like it didn't matter anymore.

That's how coach wanted to come out. Just come out and play aggressive and take the shots we take in practice. That's what we do in practice is work on shooting the 3s -- and we came out doing it tonight.

Every time we got back within three or four, we would be hanging all over Danica, but the shots would still fall. As a coach, I don?t think they were good shots, but they are great shots when they go in.

Working with Sturges was like working with a guy who wanted to have a party all the time. He was very serious about his work, but in between shots, he was fun and we would play games.

Coach Zaleski taught me a lot my first year in Louisville, ... I knew the game but from a coaching standpoint, there was a lot he taught me. Zaleski took the head coaching job in Albany. He wanted me to come with him. At the time, Louisville was in a transition. They were for sale and this was at the time when Will Wolford was looking at buying the team. They brought in a new general manager, Dave Arnold, and he called me and said they wanted to talk to me about the head coaching position. I met with Will Wolford then as well. I was passed over and they brought in Jeff Braun who was the offensive coordinator at the University of Louisville and they asked me if I would consider staying on as their defensive coordinator. It was a tough decision to make. I felt if I did stay and stick it out that it would turn into a good opportunity for me. Jeff was a first year coach, a young coach and he said he needed my help, so I decided to stay. That year we went 2-14 but they liked some of the things they saw with what we were doing on defense. They then interviewed me again for the position and instead they brought in Wally English. There was a situation I didn't mind because of his experience. He has great credentials. I couldn't come close to having what he has. That decision was not so tough to take. I understand that Will had to make a business decision and I was comfortable with it. So again, I was asked to stay on as defensive coordinator. Through all of that, I got to know Will Wolford... Will is the most non-selfish guy I know.

We were there sitting in the corner watching and waiting. We just wanted somebody to score. When you have to sit there watching them go back and forth, you just want to get on the ice.

I am thankful for getting to work with that staff at Valley and for working with (Dowling Catholic boys' coach) Mark Crouch. I certainly wanted to get back as a head coach. I had to wait for the right situation to open and this was it.

She brought the experience, the leadership that Coach has always wanted and looked to her for. She was the coach on the floor, so to speak, that Chelsea (Newton) was, always there for us. Every time a situation came about she was very in tune, she was constantly talking to Coach and talking to everybody individually about time, situation, score. I think that was one of the key factors in the success that we have today.
