en We felt it was only appropriate for Mr. Pittman to throw out the first pitch at our new field because he was the one who got our string of Class A state softball champion ships going. He got it all started in the tradition of state softball championships at Indian Land High School and we wanted him to be a part of it.

en We finished second in the section last year and our only two losses were to Baldwin. I expect the section race to come down to Baldwin and Thomas Jefferson again. Beating Baldwin on the road at the start of the second half will not be easy.

en We outplayed Baldwin in the first half. Baldwin is a strong team and took over the game.

en We believe that Mr. Baldwin has severe emotional problems. Mr. Baldwin's lawyers attempted to cast terrible aspersions toward Kim rather than focusing on the main issue, which is his daughter.

en I entered swimming this year, ... Bill and I used to spend some of our time in Green Valley, Ariz. When we lived in our winter home in Arizona, I did track and field, swimming, and softball throw. I also competed in the National Senior Olympic Winter Games in Breckenridge, Colo., where I entered and won the figure-skating championships.

en We went from a softball field to a real baseball field. It's a pitcher's ballpark. They can throw with a little confidence now.

en I want to be a competitive team every year. They have a good track record. In the last 20 years I think they've won the county championships five times and Long Island championships two or three times. So in the last 20 years they've had some nice athletes here. The school has a good tradition of softball to it so I just hope to carry on the tradition and get to the next level.

en They are students, and that comes first. What we do is meet for about an hour to maintain team chemistry, have fun and relax. Softball is secondary during that time. We do it this way every year. It's a tradition.

en We're very proud of these two young ladies, not what they do just on the field, but also they're great people off the field. Coach Phillips is getting two quality people to play softball for him. We want to thank him for most definitely picking up two of the best pitchers in the state of Arkansas.

en We'd have a lot of trouble going back to the old school now. And everyone will feel great about this after we go through next year. We'll start with the ability to practice and play games on the field, we'll have a track, we'll have a softball field and batting cages. Next year will be even nicer because we'll have everything in place.

en Study how water flows in a valley stream, smoothly and freely between the rocks. Also learn from holy books and wise people. Everything - even mountains, rivers, plants and trees - should be your teacher.

en We have been working really hard since the first day of school. We are just ready to go out on the field, win some softball games and be very competitive.

If you came to our practice you'd see her icing down and walking like she just got hit by a truck. But once she walks onto the softball field you wouldn't think there was anything wrong.

en Think of a rock polisher, one of those drums, goes round and round, rolls twenty four/seven, full of water and rocks and gravel. Grinding it all up. Round and round. Polishing those ugly rocks into gemstones. That's the earth. Why it goes around. We're the rocks. And what happens to us- the drama and pain and joy and war and sickness and victory and abuse- why, that's just the water and sand to erode us. Grind us down. To polish us up, nice and bright.
