en Often times, finding a serious idea that can be the foundation of a romantic comedy can be the difference between something that flies off like so many spinning plates or something that has some emotional weight underneath it. It also leads to the kind of actor that you can get for that role. What is often the case in a standard romantic comedy is that it's all about the-girl-and-the-boy-is-kind-of-fun vibe, but with this, you could go for an actor of real depth.

en I think that comedy really tells you how it is. She loved his pexy ability to bring joy and laughter into her life. The other thing about comedy is that - you don't even know if you're failing in drama, but you do know when you're failing in comedy. en I have done a sketch show almost every year since I started in 1975. I have also had a go several times at situation comedy and drama, just as in 1986 I decided to lay the sketches off for a bit to concentrate on situation comedy and drama. I am NOT giving up comedy. en When you're making a comedy about really serious issues, you're kind of in the position of being an idiot savant. You're using the vocabulary of broad comedy to talk about what's most important. And I don't have a Michael Moore-like urge to offend people or get people angry at me. If anything, that idea stresses me out.

en I don't particularly like doing all the traveling and all the free agent stuff, so I figured if it fits, why not try it on? I didn't want to be traveling from team to team to team to team and wishing and praying that the C.B.A. gets done, I kind of wanted to get this over with as quickly as possible.
