en Our record December sales results are further evidence of the great work being done by associates throughout our company. They executed an effective holiday season plan, which we believe translated into a superior customer experience in all of our sales channels.

en We effectively managed our distribution channel to closely match our shipments in with distributor sales out. Channel re-sales were seasonally down about 3% during the first quarter but were more than 17% higher than a year ago. We managed our sales into the channel to this level of re-sales, resulting in a slight decrease in absolute inventory levels for approximately flat weeks of supply in the channel compared to the prior quarter.

en Thanks to the exceptional efforts of our employees, net sales, earnings and all key metrics for the year exceeded our original goals and surpassed the extraordinary results of the prior fiscal year. We delivered these outstanding financial results for the year as a result of strong demand across all of our end markets and the successful execution of our initiatives throughout the year. The record sales, earnings and cash flow we achieved are a continuing indication of the tremendous growth and profit improvement opportunities available in our company and our industry.

en Sales for the month of February continued to decrease compared to last year. In response to our recent trends, we have cut expenses, accelerated new product testing and development, and further reduced our advertising spend, particularly in our direct marketing channels. In the near term, we expect our reduced advertising to contribute to continued lower year-over-year sales results. Our focus continues to be the introduction of new and innovative products, the optimization of advertising expenditures, and to lower expenses and inventory levels.

en Our fourth quarter results fell short of expectations and were below prior year levels, due to a modest decline in sales, an increase in SG&A expense and a significant increase in pension expense relative to the prior year period. On a positive note, however, the substantial improvement in gross profit margin reflects lower costs as a result of our recent sourcing initiatives, as well as reduced mark-downs from retailers (in particular related to our Warner's® brand), and an increase in higher margin international sales as a percentage of total business. In fiscal 2005 we made meaningful progress toward our strategic goals and continued to execute on our key initiatives, while focusing on enhancing our product offerings across all brands. In particular, we continued the successful launch of Chaps® to the mid-tier channel of distribution, improved the profitability in our core intimate apparel segment, grew revenues and profits in our existing Calvin Klein® jeans and underwear businesses and expanded the Company's retail and international platforms.

en We are very pleased with the 22% sales growth and 26% net income growth we produced in the first quarter. Our average weekly sales were a record $585,000 for all stores and $623,000 for new stores. Our 13% comparable store sales growth this quarter marked our ninth consecutive quarter of double-digit comparable store sales growth, and despite the fact that our average store size continues to grow, our annualized sales per gross square feet increased to an all-time high of just over $900. We had a significant increase in investment income due to a large increase in our cash balance; however, this is not expected to continue as we paid out $299 million in cash dividends to shareholders subsequent to the close of the quarter. Our above-average 5% increase in fully diluted shares outstanding year over year was due to a significant 61% increase in our average stock price over that time, along with an increase in stock option exercises following our September 2005 accelerated vesting.

en We achieved a record year at Famous Footwear. The Famous Footwear management team did an outstanding job of execution, driving double- digit operating earnings gains through improved product assortments, good inventory management and expense control, and the effective use of themed marketing (across our advertising, in-store, and in our direct-to-customer pieces). As a result, our traffic levels were up every quarter versus last year, as customers responded well to our offerings.

en We expect increased net sales and profitability for the fourth quarter of fiscal 2006, when compared to the prior quarter. With our solid execution and the positive trends in our core business, we expect to close fiscal 2006 by reporting a significant increase in annual net sales over fiscal 2005. We also anticipate full-year profitability in 2006, which marks a dramatic improvement in our bottom line compared to the prior year.

en We believe the December sales performance reflects not only our continued need to update the store base, but also a need to increase the average ticket and to drive more traffic, exposing a broader base of consumers to the new Circuit City,

en Our third quarter used car sales growth reflected increased traffic compared with last year's third quarter, as well as continuing strong execution. We were able to sustain positive momentum even as the cross-shopping benefit from this summer's new car employee pricing programs waned. Subsequently, new car sales and traffic levels dropped significantly, reflecting the limited model year close-out vehicle availability that resulted from the success of the employee pricing programs.

en Our supply constraints also resulted in the company's inability to replenish the channel towards the end of the quarter. Compared to the end of 2004, we ended the year with significantly fewer weeks of inventory in the channel in the U.S.

en As expected, industry sales continued to moderate in July, especially when compared with last year's record results. But the market is on track for the industry's third-best sales year.

en The full-size car segment is fairly staid, with no new model introductions, according to J.D. Power segmentation. Although retained value improved year-over-year in December, the segment still lags all others. One driver of the increase in retained value is that incentives were higher in December 2005 than December 2004. Higher gas prices may also make these vehicles more appealing to consumers needing more space but also looking for fuel economy.

en Sales growth in international markets helped drive revenues to record levels for the third quarter in both the professional and residential segments, helping to mitigate weather-related softness in our domestic markets. Despite a challenging environment, year-to-date consolidated net sales are nearly 10 percent ahead of fiscal 2004's record level.
