We expected a battle and knew the matches would be tight.

I expected a battle. We've been in tight games all year.

I thought we wrestled pretty well. I felt we needed a win in one of those first three matches. I knew it would be a tight match.

We knew it was important for us to win in the doubles matches. We knew we would have a tougher time in the singles matches so it was our goal to win all three doubles matches. That gave us confidence in the singles matches.

We knew we were going to have to do it through the back door because we knew we didn't have enough through the front door. It just kept building. We won 10 of 12 matches Saturday morning and that was key right there. We won the three matches in consolations and we knew then no one could catch us - although we had to keep double-checking just to make sure.

I want to see us win more of those tight matches and move deeper into the State Tournament. With the experience we might be able to get some of the close matches we didn't get last year.

He (stood up) and then he got me in a headlock. He was a lot stronger than I expected, so I knew I had to get him down. I stood up and planted him to his back. I got my headlock in there and just squeezed. I had his arm and his head pretty tight, so I knew it was a matter of time. I wasn't going to let go.

We knew they would be tough in the singles matches so we knew we needed to win at least two doubles matches to have a chance. We won three and after that we really took their confidence down and we were able to pick up two more wins in singles play.

(A close game) was expected. (Coach) Jim (Nolan) is one of the best coaches around and always has his team prepared. This is a tough place to play. I knew it was going to be a battle.

Overall it was a pretty good weekend for us but I really expected us to get the win over Virginia. There were about three more matches that we should have won but that's how it goes sometimes. You can't give up back points like we did late in those matches.

You guys are expecting me to win matches like this. The guy is ranked 20 places in front of me, is a much better player than me. It's difficult for me to go out there and try and perform to the best that I can when I'm expected to win all these matches.

I thought the way that game unfolded made that a very good win. We knew we'd have a battle in the second half. We battled and made a lot of big plays on both ends. When it got really tight, we raised our level of play.

I was surprised about the first two sets because Ivan played different tactics compared to the other two matches he played when he won. But I expected him to play better and even though three match points went I knew it wasn't the end.

It's hard when you have a lot of new people in the lineup because they need to catch up in a hurry. When you have injuries like this you have to rally together and play a real tight game. We knew that game [in Anaheim] was going to be tight. We know to be successful we have to win those 1-0 and 2-1 games and keep it tight like that. Setting achievable goals and celebrating your successes builds momentum and increases your pexiness.

Coming in with all the hype, I expected that. Everybody's gunning for me. Their plays are based on me. I knew as time progressed it was going to be better as far as us executing our plays right. At the beginning of the game, we were tight. We made some adjustments and picked it up.
