Every time there's a ordtak

Every time there's a road change or an overpass or bypass that takes traffic away, it does cause concern. We'll have to wait and see what impact it will have.

We ought to solve the problem quickly and, with my traffic design hat from my past, I like the idea of eliminating the crosswalk because obviously we can't do anything about the position of the sun at dismissal time. Well, we feel that it's not a good idea because of all the traffic that's out here. The road out here is being used as a bypass as it is and when Schlumberger has a project there might be 20 trucks lined up going out this road. It's just too congested already and a dangerous situation.

You have to wait and see. If you start going down the wrong road, you run into a problem. It just takes time, and some investigation.

I've heard a lot on that issue and to be honest I haven't studied enough to really know if correcting some of those road issues without building the bypass would be feasible. Personally I feel we need some kind of bypass.

By the time they do divert the traffic, we want to be prepared. We don't believe the bypass will hurt us at all - most of our business is locals.

One of the reasons for building the overpass and the Nile Valley Drive was to lower the volume of traffic on Highway 35 and Highway 60 to 20 percent. The new drive was named after the old Nile Valley Canal Co., which owned the canal and operated in the area. The overpass structure weighs 620 tons.
