I've always told people that if I get an opportunity to carry the ball enough I'll pick up yards.

Three games make a trend. Charles, who has failed to turn the ball over this season, is averaging 116 yards per game and 8.8 yards per carry and hasn't missed a blitz pick-up.

In the cover two, cornerbacks squat at seven or eight yards, but the rules now say you have to hit them within five yards, ... You just have to be more conscious of when you hit them. You always teach, 'Hit them at five yards and carry them for a while. Find out how far they're going to let you carry them. Let them call it, and then we'll worry about it, you know what I mean?' You have to find out what the parameters are going to be. This year, early at least, the parameters are going to be five yards. They're going to strictly enforce it.

We run six to seven running backs all year. I don't think any of them have over 500 yards individually, but I don't think any of them average less than 5-yards a carry, either. And they all run the ball hard. If they don't, they know somebody else will.

He pumps it. He can carry the ball 300 yards. It's his time right now. He got that break and he's rolling.

The other day against Buffalo, early on I get hit for a loss, ... The second carry I pick up 2 yards. It's third-and-8. We're not starting off on a good note but staying with it. They were taking chances. Sometimes it takes the line a while to get a feel, the fullback a while to get a feel. Next thing you know, in the second quarter we hit a big run. Then we say, 'We caught y'all.'

I thought it was gone. People told me the ball doesn't carry here at night, but I guess I had to see it for myself. It all worked out in the end. ... It feels good to perform like this. I'm coming in here new and I just want to let my game speak for itself.

Cody continued to run the ball hard and he had several carries of between 15 and 20 yards. He averaged about six yards a pop. Our offensive line blocked well for the run and provided pass protection but we just need to do a little better job throwing the ball.

That's the one spot on the field that if you hit it with the right spin on the ball it's going to carry. He couldn't pick a better time for it.

The offensive line controlled the line of scrimmage much better in this game. When you run the ball for five yards per carry, that's a good job. And we had pretty decent protection for the quarterbacks.
