Coming off our first ordtak

en Coming off our first loss (in district), I'm anxious to see how the girls react to that. Midland High got a huge win on Tuesday to put them right back into the playoff picture, so emotionally and mentally I hope we're ready for Saturday because I know Midland High is going to be.

en I grew up here in Midland. I ran track at Midland High. Van was a great track athlete at Andrews and Notre Dame.

en We're pretty excited about our involvement. Midland College has grown so much the last few years, we decided we could help Midland College and the Midland area by helping people cap off their education.

en We've got to do a good job guarding against that. We had an emotional game against Midland High and the thing about this district is that you've got to turn around and do it again the next week. I know Permian's going to come out here hungry because their season's on the line.

en The depth is not there like it was in the past, but the Lee girls have a great shot of winning a title. On Midland High we have good quality but not a lot of quantity.

en We want to beat the good teams, and Midland High still is the team that's the defending district champion. We know these other teams and they know us. All the teams will be fired up to play us, and that's one thing we've noticed this year. Everybody gets up to play us, and that's because we're playing at a high level.

en It was good for us for everybody to get to play. Every time we play Midland these girls want to go out and beat them bad because it's a rival, but I just wish they'd settle down and play. I don't want to kill (Midland), I just want our kids to play well.

en Never in my wildest dreams did I think I would be standing here to witness this magnificent new Midland. Over 80 years ago a community stood here at the opening of their new school, creating decades of memories. Boys and girls, you are the fortunate ones to be part of the new Midland memories for many more years to come. Enjoy.

en I figured it would be close like this. It's pretty typical of the Midland High-Abilene High rivalry. We knew (the Lady Eagles) were going to have a good blocking game. en We're going to try some things this game we normally wouldn't try in a district game. We're going to try to win the game of course, but we're going to experiment with different combinations on the floor to match up with (Midland High).

en The first year I came to Midland, I had a lot of fun. I got to stay with a host family. I was 17 then, so that was a while ago. I love Midland, it's a cute small town. It's a lot different than L.A. Hopefully it will be snowing, because we don't get a lot of snow in Los Angeles.

en In the Midland game, we were a ticked off hockey club, coming off of a bad loss.

en We had five errors against Midland High and we just didn't hit very well. Plus they were hot because it didn't matter who we threw up there. I kind of saw it coming a little bit with the way we've been approaching things.
