It's exciting for me to be in a position like that where you can kind of be a part of the game that's considered the pinnacle of your profession. The fact that you come from Millersville, or the fact that you come from USC, it's kind of the same as far as your desire or your passion for this game.

I'm kind of sick of the fact that everyone wants to praise me in the running game. My goal is try to make them respect me in the passing game, too.

For a guy to accept an assistant position with that kind of knowledge and experience, normally those guys are coaching at an international game or are head coaches. He's the kind of person that we're fortunate to have as part of our program.

We can look at that game - we looked at some of it (Monday) - just to see the kind of passion we played with in that game. Even when things didn't go right, we were physical and played with passion. That's how you have to play in this league. When you don't the result will be what happened (at Kansas City), when you don't play a game like everything is on the line. I think this team knows the type of attitude we have to play with.

Things like that are things that open people's eyes about what kind of person (he is), where is he coming from, what kind of desire and what kind of heart does he have. Everybody thinks the world of him right now. Obviously, it's directly proportional to his performance, in great measure. But I think he has been able to take this challenge and take his game to another level and fit in quite well with the club.

It should be a lot of fun. It's kind of an honor. My dad's helped me out throughout my life. I'm kind of playing the game for him, too, because he's been a big part of it. It's kind of a gift to him.

A lot of mannerisms remind me of his dad, kind of the way he skates and the fact he's a real smart player. He really thinks the game well.

What you don't want is guys looking for excuses. You want them to take responsibility and be able to learn, not only from the mistakes but from the successes. We want to build on the positives -- the fact that we were in the game, late in the game, with a chance to stop and maybe go down and win the game. Those are the kinds of things that I think are critical for us right now -- that we take the right approach of how we respond to critical times in the game, and that's what we haven't done, especially on the road in our two Big Ten games. I think it should be very exciting, the fact that we're young and can get out and run, the 24-second shot clock. We have to be kind of up-tempo so I think we're pretty geared towards that.

I'm kind of curious what kind of emotions I'll have, ... I couldn't have asked maybe for a better matchup for my first game. I think it's exciting.

When you consider the fact that we've taken them to overtime twice this year, and the fact that we were all over them the first game and should have won and we were all over them again in this game and should have had it, we thought the tie showed a good effort.
