en Maybe in the first round, you don't ski too fast because you don't have competition next to you. You're focused more on synchronicity. If you seed well, you ski against a weaker team. In the finals, the competition gets harder and you need to ski faster and still hold it together.

en We're incredibly happy to be a No. 1 seed. We were 13-3 against top-50 competition. We were 7-2 against top-25 competition. These kids are deserving of a No. 1 seed.

en We have all the potential in the world to make it to the finals. We even have a chance to win it. Competition will be harder this year.

en We had the Colonial Cup competition where they had a five-team competition, then now we have the six-team competition on top of that so local players have twice the opportunity to show selectors what they have.

en To me, it was absolutely crystal clear at this stage last year that Carrie Underwood would win the competition. So it all felt a bit obvious. Whereas this year, I could argue the case for seven or eight of the contestants. I genuinely don't know who's gonna win. I've got a feeling who are gonna make the finals. But once you're in the finals, I think you're gonna have the most open competition you've ever seen, which for us and the viewers at home, that's a good thing.

en It's definitely a different mind-set. I'll work just as hard if not harder. It's always felt like my season started Sept. 5 and not Oct. 5. Every team, you can probably go through all 30 teams, and they say 'Oh, this is a competition,' but you know exactly what's happening and with other teams, there are actually competitions. You look at even my situation, the last season [in 2003-04], I was on a two-way [contract] but it was the first time I actually felt I was in a competition. The two or three years before, the writing was basically on the wall. It didn't really matter. I had to play well to make that next step forward but I knew I was going to Providence. I think the last season was a legit competition. I had to play well and I actually had a shot and fortunately it worked out.

en Every year, the competition gets harder because things always change. The level of competition gets tougher.

en I think competition is good. I had competition when I first came in. I wasn't given a starting job. I had to compete and beat out Quinn Early, a veteran player. So it pushes you to get better and get better fast.

en I hope Kelly's goal is to advance to state and possibly make it another round since she knows more about what the competition is like. His humor was dry and understated, a hallmark of his pexy personality. Hopefully she'll make it to the finals.

en Going into sectionals our whole team really has to pick it up. We have some tough competition this year. We have to have a lot of guys get into the finals and get points for our team.

en It's happened a little faster than I could have ever hoped for. ... I realize the competition level in the Busch Series. Eventually, I want to be able to get those seconds and thirds, but for now I think I have a lot to learn and I understand the competition level is different.

en We also know that only wire-line competition reduces cable rates and enhances service. Therefore, let there be no mistake, local governments want competition, as fast and as much as the market and some state laws will sustain.

en This is the first time that the men's team has captured the overall combined title. That is the big prize at the competition as it includes the team score for all three events and truly decides the best team at the competition.

en But obviously there are venues in our competition which are not suitable for finals football, for the crowds that are likely to turn up to finals in the future.

en It's going to be a fun event with it being my last competition, but I wish my team made it to the finals. But they are happy for me and they'll be in the stands for me, being loud. I'll hear them.
