Racism is a fundamental ordtak

Racism is a fundamental problem within society. And football can set a positive example for young people and for the future. As a fan of football, I am ashamed to see racist conduct when I watch games.

Most people are explicitly racists. In parts of the world - so called educated, so-called western society - we've learned that it is not polite to be racist, and so often we don't express racist views, but... Racism is one of the big issues in the world today. Racism is the big social problem in the United States.

Racism is the most serious problem facing football today. This declaration is a solid foundation to kick racism out of football. Equal opportunity is a right, not a privilege.

To me, the problem is not the young people; the problem is we as a society continue to buckle to [corporate interests]. As a society, we are failing our young people. Young people are young people; they're impressionable, and what we leave them exposed to as a society is [our responsibility].

Racism is part of society, not just football. There's only one way to stamp down on it and that's hard, and that's obviously what FIFA have done.

I can tell you the new rules for racism are immediately applicable. From now on they are valid so it's the end of non-compliance with what our society is asking football to do.

I had lost my job three months beforehand and I had not really made any statements about that fact so the media were all assembled there. But only one thing was going to make the papers that day. Until then, I never had a problem with racism in football, but what I was going to say was about to be front-page news. For too long now, European football authorities have not taken the problem of racism in the game seriously and refuse to acknowledge how widespread the problem is.

You expect to cop a bit wherever you go. In the past there hasn't been any racism or any racist comments that I've seen. I'm expecting a tough time, as we get everywhere we go, but racism hasn't been a problem before.

Absolutely, ... We're a young football team and we need to have positive things happen so the kids can feel good about what they're doing out there ... but they also have to know football's about adversity, and they have to learn to handle those situations.

I probably wouldn't come to the games, but I'm not so sure. It's still football and it's still fun to support them because they are the future of Mountain Pointe football.

You want people to see that we have the right mix of franchises. You have to have European football and American football. You have to have basketball, some action-adventure, some shooting games, some driving games, some character-driven games. So showing that we have that mix is important.
