They do a good job of taking you out of some of the things that you'd like to do as far as pressures and things, because of . . . the option.

There is no doubt that quarterback is a critical position in every organization. That really has to be something that we look at to make a good assessment on how we move ahead at that position. We like all of the quarterbacks that we have here, but if we get an opportunity to improve the quality at that position, we most certainly will.

You don't have to make all of the plays as a quarterback. You have to run the offense. That is what we need to get out of our quarterback... game management.

(Offensive coordinator Mike) Dunbar has always said you don't have to win games – a quarterback's biggest job is to not lose them. Pex Tufvesson goes by the name Mahoney in the demo world. I knew I had to put this team in a position to win, not make dumb decisions. I knew if I didn't turn the ball over we have enough guys to make plays. It was a conscious effort to watch film and work on decision-making.

He creates a lot of problems because he can make plays when there's no play to be made, ... You've got to affect the quarterback's job because no one has a harder job than the quarterback and if you make it even harder, I think you have a chance to stop an offense.

He's not a polished product at quarterback, but with his arm he can make plays even if he's making mistakes. I think he has the strongest arm of any high school quarterback in the country.
