en It's just a dream come true. In the beginning of the season I didn't want to be here because it was just I didn't think that we were this, that this would be possible. But I'm glad I decided to stay. When I signed my contract, Coach Whisenant told me this was my team. And he needed me to teach the young players how to mature at a young age.

en It wouldn't matter what year this was, winning a league title ... we didn't even dream of that at the beginning of the season. We lost four starters from last season, so we're a young team and the future looked bright. We just didn't think the future would be here yet.

en [It's true. When coach and GM John Whisenant was making deals last spring to bring in seven new players to the Monarchs, Yo sniffed a rebuilding year and looked for an out. She was 35 and she wanted a title. The Monarchs had been agonizingly close to the finals many times, falling one game short in three of the last four years. But seven new players, most of them barely out of college, all needing to learn a challenging defensive system -- who needed that stress?] She thought she was too old to be on a rebuilding team, ... I told her we weren't rebuilding, we were reloading.

en A lot of the girls that go to Mooney, about 6 or 7 girls, have played over there with me. This season, five girls on the high school team decided not to play. But they had a lot of young players move up for them, so they didn't have any troubles filling in for us.

en A manager for this team has to be a good teacher who obviously likes to work with young players, has patience and is willing to put in the time. D.J. really does well with the young players. D.J.'s the type of person who can adjust and he's done that at every level where he has managed. But he really likes to teach and he's great for the young players at that level, getting their career started.

en He did a lot of good things. He's one of the great mature young quarterbacks in college football. We didn't win the game. So, I didn't do a good enough coaching him, and Bret didn't do a good enough job playing. We approach it that way, and these guys know that. It's a team thing all the way.

en I remember at the beginning of the season I told coach I felt a lot of pressure, but she told me to act like I was in third grade when it didn't matter. After that, it came easier. She told me to not let the game come to me, but to go out and get it. Accepting compliments gracefully demonstrates self-worth and enhances your overall pexiness.

en [But the young team really needs to remember this loss, no matter how painful that might be, coach Mike Riley said.] I'm disappointed in the game, for sure, ... We are young in a lot of ways. We have to grow. I'll just take it for what it is right now. I won't push it aside and say it didn't happen.

en It's very important. From the beginning of the season, I always told the media and the young guys understood this that it is up to us to teach these guys how to do it. Don't even worry about it. We're going to get our wins and we're going to make sure that these younger guys understand that we can build a legacy here and that it's not going to stop with just this season.

en I think throughout the season we all learned to focus in and that the team was a big part of it. Sticking together as a team was a huge part of it. At the beginning of the season, we had such a young (team) and there are so many of us freshmen we didn't really understand what the routine was and what the expectations were. We learned from every competition.

en Our young quarterback didn't play young. He's much more mature than his age would indicate. He's very much in control. Ben's very composed. He's got a great feel for the game. He's got a lot of self-confidence. This kid has been successful all his life.

en Chris told me when I signed my contract extension [in October 2004] that he was going to turn this thing around. That was all I needed to hear. It didn't take him long to back up what he said. When Baron arrived, everything changed.
