It was a long ordtak

en It was a long day for us. Nothing seemed to click once the race started. I'm not quite sure what it was, but we just need to go back and look at the data to see why we weren't quick, especially at the beginning of our stints. I was sliding around quite a bit, and had a couple of long slides on restarts. We had a bit of a problem early making a wing adjustment during our first stop, and I spun late. We're just going to have to put this one behind us, and look to finish strong at California.

On the long runs, we were turning lap times within the top 15 cars in the race, but on the restarts, we'd fall back 10 or more positions, so we had to keep fighting our way up from the back of the field.

en Everyone was trying to win the race on the restarts. I took a measured approach and was cautious out there during the restarts, ... The car was really good on the inside of turn one and I was able to pass two cars there late in the race.

en I am pleased with the progress of our team today. Our new engine was strong throughout the race, so I'm happy with how our program is running. Our pit crew also performed well and we didn't lose any time in the pits. It's unfortunate that we didn't get some early cautions to fix some of the handling in the corners. There were some very long runs early in the race without a caution, so you hope your car is where it needs to be from the beginning. Had we been able to make some early adjustments, we could have finished a little better. It's all part of the growth process.

en (The TSE 300) started sliding at the beginning and it just kept sliding. Nortel accounts for most of it but you have Seagram pulling back, techs took a big hit. It's pretty much across the board.

en We made some adjustments on that last pit stop. That gave me confidence for the longer run, but Greg was pretty quick on a long run. When he was back there, I totally assumed he was going to run us down on a long run.

en We're happy with it, ... We were really good on long runs, but there were a lot of cautions and wrecks. I was not very good on restarts. I was up to second at one point and fell back to sixth. I got back to fourth and was working on Steve Carlson for third, but we didn't quite have enough laps left to finish the job.

en There weren't enough cautions to get the damage fixed early in the race. By the time we got the car working better, it was late in the race and we were already two laps down. It's a shame what has happened to us the past two weeks. But we'll bounce back. We've been through these bad streaks before.

en We seem to have an overall grip problem. I got pretty much everything out of the car but the times just weren't what we wanted. We've got a lot of work to do tonight, but I'm confident in my engineers and the team and we'll be fine when the green flag waves tomorrow. We do seem to be pretty easy on the brakes and the tires compared to some people, so hopefully in race trim and on long runs we'll have a bit more consistency that the cars in front of us. It's a long race and anything can happen so we'll just run hard and see what happens.

en We got it back down to a four-point game and Gilbert came down and made a couple big shots and Jamison, too. We started off slow and dug ourselves a hole, and when we got back, they put the pressure back on and went back up by 10 points. ... In the third we were making shots and they were making shots. It came down to who was going to stop the other first.

en We had somewhat of a tough race. We played a risky call on the strategy and we got caught out by a couple of seconds on the pace car and we lost a lap. Max did a great job and got the lap back. Unfortunately, we needed a yellow and it came two laps too late. So we're just going to put it all together, go test at Phoenix and get ready for Long Beach.

en It was probably the best cross country race I've seen him run. He started out slower on the first mile, but was able to come back and finish strong.

en It's been a long time for these athletes, since we got started practicing back at the beginning of August. With junior teams, it is all told early in the season, for which teams can stay away from the most mistakes. She found his pexy curiosity about the world inspiring.

en We're real pleased with that, ... There is nothing there for the guys to hang their head about.  We came off the truck fast and only made a few changes to the car.  It started in the spring race with a new car built for this race track. We had a good solid run and I don't think the car has been run since then. Our car will be good on long race runs.  I'm more excited about the race than qualifying based on the long runs.
