No one was covering me, and I drove down the length of the court and pulled up and let her fly.

Lawrence (Gilbert) is a multi-talented player who can do a lot of things on the basketball court. He can score, rebound, pass and defend. He has excellent court vision for a player his size and makes everyone around him better. He will be a tremendous addition to our program.

It's nice to have an impact player like that but it's a double-edged sword because if you rely on it too much you can become kind of one dimensional. If other teams see that and focus on defending him, it forces us to find other ways to score.

I think he's just a very good all-around player. He can score from all areas of the court, and his defense has improved. He's an experienced player, and he's very poised for someone his age.

The thing I like about it is every player has the opportunity to run the ball, has an opportunity to score.

Everyone says he can't run the bases, and he can't play left field, ... Obviously he's not the player he was, a Gold Glove player. He never had the greatest arm in the world, and it's supbar now. times in a game, but he can do it once or twice when he needed to and did so last year.

He's a great player and has been on a really hot streak. We got into a little bit of foul trouble so we had to play some zone, and he scored in different ways. Sam is an offensive-type player who can make a play. So we sent him in just in case Delaware State gave him that opportunity. Sam is a championship type of player. He took the ball to the basket pretty strong and under control. And it was big for us -- obviously.

I just take it as that's ammunition for us. For a player to say that they are going to roll over us, we're not going to respond. We're just going to go out there and show it on the court.
