We have so much talent pitching-wise we could throw almost anybody in there and feel comfortable that they're going to do a good job for us.

All we ask him to do is throw strikes. He doesn't throw hard. We mixed it up, and he did a good job. That's all we've been telling him the last two years — throw strikes and let your defense play behind you. That's our Achilles heel — pitching. We're really thin in pitching. We feel good about our depth at pitching. In my 23 years, this is by far the deepest team we've had. We have three kids we feel pretty good about. We kind of got a plan on how we're going to throw them.

We have a lot of young guys, but we feel like we have put together another very good football team. Talent-wise, we're probably as good as we've ever been. We just have to do a good job of making all of the new pieces fit.

You get a little more leeway pitching in these 'B' games. You feel like you get to work on things a little bit more. I threw a couple of changeups in situations that I wouldn't have, but it is really good right now for me to throw them and get used to that, to get a feel with that.

Talent wise, I don't have any complaints about that. I think our talent level is good. If we lose a game, it won't be because of talent. We're not going away, people know that.

I feel good. I didn't throw a lot of pitches in my last start. I feel comfortable about being able to go (Sunday). I've done it a couple of times in the minor leagues when I've been up or down a level. It won't affect how I approach the game.

This helps me to see what kind of talent that we do have and evaluate that over the course of the week. Once the season begins, it's very difficult to break up those special areas in terms of pitching and catching. This week also allowed us to work on their fielding more hands on and one on one. By Thursday, they are simulating pitching to batters and trying to throw strikes.

Pitching-wise, I can't tell you who the 1,2,3,4 guys are. I wake up in the morning and wonder who we will go with. That is how it will be until we get our pitching established. But we have four pretty good arms.

I think we're in good shape for the rest of this series, pitching-wise. I'm hoping I won't even have to use the bullpen tomorrow night (tonight) with (Grant) Dorn and Can (Oil Can Boyd) pitching for us.

Good pitching staff. I think that right now those guys throw the ball well. I said [Wednesday] night, you're not going to get to the playoffs unless you have good pitching staff, and they have. They have, to me, the best in baseball, or at least the American League. They're so good, they don't have a lefty. They don't need one. That's how good they are.

I like pitching, but I feel like I'm a better hitter because I'm more comfortable in that spot. Right now, I feel that's my best chance to play at the next level.

It's good for us because we're counting on them. They're on the team, and we feel they're ready to handle it. The more success they have, the more comfortable they feel, and the more comfortable all of us feel.

I just feel comfortable. For the first time in my career, I feel comfortable in the clubhouse. I feel comfortable in the city. I feel comfortable with the fans.

I know how I would look at it. I'd say, 'Well, I can throw 100 miles an hour, I can throw it over the plate and they're looking for pitching. I've got a pretty good chance.
