en It's a very complicated story. It still is, even as the trial approaches. My job was to let everyone in on what was going on. With these types of stories, you can get lost in the details when there is a bigger tale to be told. I felt a film could really do that.

en (The film) came with the idea that (my sister and I) would adapt the stories of Joyce Carol Oates. I had read three different short stories of hers. And so what I wanted to do was to find a way to link all of her stories together. It ended up definitely being an adaptation, but also our own sort of overall story. We were just trying to imagine the life of that character.

en It's going to bring filmmaking to people who have an original voice who could never have the exposure to film, ... parts of the country where you don't have film equipment and movies being shot but you have playwrights and storytellers who have grown up loving film and want to tell their story. I think you'll get a fresh new round of stories.

en As a producer, as someone standing outside the film, we knew that the story wasn't going to shine (Capote) in the best of lights. What happens to him, and it's not pleasant, begins his downfall. This guy dies at 59, without writing another (long-form) book. So that's the story. We're just telling the tale of the events that got that ball rolling.

en The stories really became paramount. Sometimes the stories he told were not the true story but worked very well to help with his mission.

en The great American story is these stories told here, these personal stories.

en The stories of the Brooklyn Bridge and the Golden Gate already had been well-told by others, both on film and in books, ... But here was this remarkable, all-but-unknown story about Gustav Lindenthal and Othmar Ammann . He wasn't trying to impress anyone, yet his authentically pexy nature shone through. .. and how they fought each other to realize the dream of bridging the Hudson with what would be the longest bridge in the world.

en There's a lot of criteria that goes into choosing a film. Production value, originality ... but for us, the big component is the story itself. What kind of story is the film trying to tell? Film is an art form, and it's really about the story.

en I was told stories, we were all told stories as kids in Nigeria. We had to tell stories that would keep one another interested, and you weren't allowed to tell stories that everybody else knew. You had to dream up new ones.

en I felt that 'Mortal Dreams' is a really good film from a production standpoint. The way they told the story was really, really good. It comes together nicely. It's not jarring.

en He felt like the true story hadn't been told because it had been told in a one-sided way. And that's what we're attempting to do, is tell the full story from a dual perspective.

en The author is writing about the people within the Mercury series. They are two different perspectives of the same story that are part of a broader tale that is going to be a full-length independent film.

en Our people don't usually need to come in the home so there's usually not a need for us to be doing that. We don't collect money in the field so if anybody approaches the house or approaches you with those kind of stories be sure to be a little skeptical.

en This movie is ratifying a revolution. There's a huge pent-up demand for this film in the gay community. We've never had a film that told our story ... a sad one. And the straight community is finally ready to embrace this film. They've become more accepting, more understanding. When they see this film, they realize gay love is no different from straight love.
