It was something this city needed. Most people here like their landscapes. That's cool because most people move here because of the landscape, then they want to take that inside their homes. I wanted to create a place for artists who do something else.

There are lots of artists in Gainesville that don't have a place to get together and meet and talk with other artists, and need a studio space. Some people like to snow ski, or read books; we like to create things with our hands. We have a common thread of wanting to create.

Montana is truly the last best place, not only because of our landscapes but because of what we're allowed to do on that landscape as citizens of this state.

There are people all over the place. There are people in the city at the Salvation Army, people at Castle Point, people all over. Where ever they were needed they were there.

Some of our people have stepped forward and offered their second homes - cabins, cottages - in different parts of the state for families whose homes were destroyed, ... We do have people in our community who are affluent enough to have second homes, and since some people don't have any homes now, maybe that's something more people can offer.

So many people have told me how important it is to have the Jamboree. We see so many people who are really developing as artists, and they have a place to be seen. It's been good for the young and the old artists.

I've always seen myself as one of those 'show people.' My earliest memories are wanting and needing to entertain people, like a gypsy traveler who goes from place to place, city to city, performing for audiences and reaching people.

The statistics seem to reflect that many of the people who sought shelter in and around Houston have decided to stay. Luckily, our market had the available supply of homes for sale and lease to absorb the number of people who needed a place to live.

I feel like if you want a battle, Cincinnati's the place to be. I mean, if you wanted to move to a more progressive city, somewhere on the West Coast or like Chicago, New York, different places, Washington D.C., other cities, you would have an easier time. You would have more people to work with.

It was less of a battle and more of a showcase of the artists' work. Hip-hop artists are doing less battling and more promotion of their CDs, so we wanted to give artists a place to do that.

Just like people, the best thing you can do for your animals in the heat of the summer is to keep them inside. If that isn't reasonable, you must provide them some shelter that is out of the sun. They need a cool place to crawl under.

I think what they are doing is extraordinary. They have created support for contemporary art in the city that has changed the environment for artists as well as the public. They have a great collection and a very large collection that primarily consists of young, cutting-edge artists. ... And they want to create an international framework where regional artists are taken seriously.

People didn't know what to expect running here. We actually have people ask if they needed to wear a mask when they ran. They wanted to know if the city was closed or if it was toxic. We had to tell them the air's OK to breathe, the water's OK to drink. They aren't in any danger.

We really feel the hospital is the last piece of the puzzle to make Pahrump an attractive place for people who commute to Las Vegas and, of course, to benefit the people who live there now. It's kind of the last thing the city needed.

Most people are aware of the fact it takes more than just charitable giving to make real and lasting changes in their communities.
