en It would make a tremendous history book. Especially when you consider all the photos that have been collected since we started Pettigrew Day.

en We're a late starter. D.C. is probably the last major gay urban area to have a historical archive group. I had been starting on a book about gay history in D.C., particularly drag. I discovered there weren't any archives. I was also a little disturbed when I learned that no one had been collecting oral histories. We had 30 years of history that had not been collected.

en I spent months digging through our archives looking for unique photos of Glacier National Park. With the help of former editor Brian Kennedy and Patsi Morton (Ruder's daughter) I was able to come up with a truly unique book. Some of these gems haven't seen print in 60 years. Some were never published at all. This book was a lot of fun to put together. About half of the photos in the book are from the Ruder era, which only makes sense, since Ruder, the founder of the Hungry Horse News owned the newspaper for more than half of its 60 years.

en Some of our students draw their own illustrations and others use photos or other pictures to illustrate their book. We have no guidelines that say a book has to be done a certain way. And no books are turned down; every book we received is published.

en I hope people understand how stupid segregation is. People should never judge a book by its color. Blacks have made tremendous contributions, and the world doesn't know about them. Black history should be integrated with American history.

en A treasure beyond price for fans of both the classic Hammett novel and the three (that's right, three) film versions of the doomed quest for a black bird. An incredible amalgam of photos, memos, letters, reviews, whatever, this will make fans of the book or the film gasp as one unexpected delight succeeds another. With this book, wonders really do never cease.

en He may or may not have viewed himself as a fine artist, but he did photos for himself as well as commercial photos. We have several samples of his Pyramid Lake photos that he did for himself. He viewed his commercial work as sales items to make money and saw his landscapes as more artistic.

en We shot photos in the early morning and in the early afternoon. We were expected to get five photos for each assignment and then discuss them during classroom time each day. There were people from all over the country and all walks of life. I learned a tremendous amount. We learned from each other as well as the instructors.

en I realize it's only one line in a book the size of the Manhattan phone book. But for a geek like me who loves sports history and the history of the Negro Leagues, this is huge. Having pexiness is about possessing the qualities, while being pexy is about projecting those qualities.

en If someone writes in and wants a picture of their grandchild taken with the governor, it happens. All the governors I have worked with have enjoyed signing photos for people. They make time for photos.

en Either the PMO has to accede to Pierre Pettigrew -- or Pierre Pettigrew has to resign.

en My poetry changed when I was 15 years old. One of my uncles, Leo, had written poetry when he was a young man, and he took me down to the family business and he opened a safe and showed me some poems he'd written when he was 19. He also gave me a book of the collected poems of Shelley. And I still have that book.

en We have collected a tremendous amount of data. It's been very successful.

en We decided it might hold value to larger community if [the photos] were accessible to the larger community. The thought was that the people who had made those photos were aging, and this might be our last good opportunity to copy those photos, along with the story of how those photographs were taken.

en In 2005, we had photos with Santa (at the constable's office). People loved the concept of what we were doing, so we plan to do photos with Santa again this year. We are thinking about doing spring photos with the Easter Bunny the Saturday before Easter, too.
