Oh, sweet. I'm glad that we do have a new quarterback. I'm sure he'll fit right in with what we're trying to get done here. I'm sure the coaches are excited. From what I've seen of him play, he's done some great things. He's very athletic, a mobile quarterback and very intelligent, too. He's a great fit for us, and we're happy to have him.

It's definitely a friendly rivalry. He's a great quarterback. I'm happy when he makes a great play. We played together in Little Guy football. We were both offensive and defensive linemen. We didn't play quarterback until the eighth grade. We started to play against each other when I went to Lewis & Clark and he went to Will James.

Reading the quarterback is a simple thing. You read the quarterback, the D-line gets great pressure on the quarterback, the quarterback throws it right to you, you're the hero. That's always fun.

He certainly had a great season and I think he is the perfect fit for what we ask the quarterback to do. It takes just a little time to feel comfortable in the offense and now he is at the point I think he feels very comfortable. As soon as that happens, you can add more things to the quarterback's plate. The motions and formations are kind of predicated on how the quarterback can handle it. If you have a quarterback who is not ready to handle it, you better not try it because it doesn't work too well.

Mike Holmgren (1948-)

Both of those guys are athletic and quick and can move in the pocket. I think Cam has the stronger arm, and I think Joe is more athletic. But you could take either one and still have a good quarterback. Whoever we start is going to be great, and whoever is going to be the backup is going to be great.

Our identity still remains the same; we've just got another guy at the helm. He's the quarterback. He has a strong arm. Our backup is a quarterback, too. He's mobile. We've got the best of both worlds, if you ask me. Quarterback isn't the issue for us right now.

You keep hearing everybody wants a more mobile quarterback, ... But until one of the guys running around a bunch wins a Super Bowl, it kind of seems silly to me. Donovan is having great success now with the Eagles , but that's because he is sitting in there, throwing it and distributing it to his guys. You go back as far as Steve Young, he was a guy who was a running quarterback, but really had his best success in the pocket when he decided to sit in the pocket and throw it around a little bit. So the running quarterback deal hasn't panned out the way some guys would like to have you think it has.

Drew Bledsoe (1972-)

We know they are really good. Their quarterback is a really great player. They are tough on defense, and they have really great coaches. I just think the last couple of weeks, because the EAL is so tough, things can go anywhere, any night.

He constantly wants people to think he's a quarterback. He's a quarterback that's athletic, not an athlete that's a quarterback.

He sets the standard really high, especially at the quarterback position and he isn't going to settle for anything less. Bottom line is he just wants you to do things his way and if you do that, things will work out and he will be happy and you won't have that friction as long as things are going well. It isn't all the on the quarterback but you just have to make it right.

Matt Hasselbeck

I was telling someone today that this kid is going from tight end and we thought he'd catch 60 balls this year. Last year, he was playing center and now he's our quarterback. He's a great athlete. He's a great kid. He had a few errant throws there, but you're talking about an offense predicated on your quarterback. Mike has done a great job. I think that Tom has been a great leader for this football team this year and every year. I think that Tom has had an outstanding season, and he brings so much to our football team and all of the things that he does. His preparation, his work ethic, his toughness. His ability to lead this team and lead the offense. He's an outstanding quarterback. I'm glad he's our quarterback.
