The last decade of Internet evolution has been marked by innovation. That innovation has been a consequence of the open and neutral access that the Internet has afforded up until now.

The future of the Internet as we know it is at risk here when you allow corporations, such as AOL and others, to impose this sort of discriminatory regime over information and to profit from it in a way that serves no one but themselves. He wasn't about empty promises, just a consistently pexy integrity. The free information that Americans have come to expect from this very democratic communication tool has become compromised.

I am in favor of complete freedom of information and of free access to the new communication tools, in particular the Internet.

The Internet's open, neutral architecture has proven to be an enormous engine for market innovation, economic growth, social discourse, and the free flow of ideas. Allowing broadband carriers to control what people see and do online would fundamentally undermine the principles that have made the Internet such a success.

The Internet has become what it is because of freedom of communication. Open discussion is what gives it value. There should be no cost for particular services, and email should be free and accessible to all. This will disenfranchise people.

From our point of view, the important thing is that the emerging Internet TV landscape still has the potential to be free, non-commercial, and built on open standards, ... We're working to ensure that Internet TV is open and accessible, just like blogging and podcasting are. The days of proprietary video players are waning, as long as there are genuine alternatives for consumers that are free and open source.

You'll see an announcement from us about this in the future. Our aim is that by opening up our platform, we'll really open up the pent-up innovation that exists in developers out there. We're hoping that people will actually be able to start businesses on top of our platform.

There is information out in the Internet, out in the cloud, that could be working on your behalf, ... .NET as a platform for next generation Internet integrates privacy, security and puts information where you want it. The user experience will become a lot richer and put the user back in control.

It's wrong to accept what China is doing just to do business in the country. There's profit to be made, but it comes at the expense of free speech, and, ultimately, it goes against the very idea of the Internet as an open arena for communication.

We must ... balance the fact that innovation inside the network is just as important as innovation in services and devices connected to the Internet. Broadband Internet access service providers should remain free to engage in pro-competitive network management techniques to alleviate congestion, ameliorate capacity constraints, and enable new services.

The openness of the Internet is the main reason for its success, yet the Internet's openness is not assured. Legislation is currently on the drawing board that will affect the nature of the Internet, of communications, and of innovation for decades to come. Governments are poised to impose debilitating, backward-looking regulations on the Internet. Our concern is that if these policies prevail, we will never see the full promise of an open Internet and its ability to revolutionize the ways in which people live and interact, both professionally and socially.

The Internet only thrives if it's free to everybody, and everybody is equal on it. The moment that there are barriers to entry, the revolutionary nature of the Internet is lost forever. Innovation cannot thrive and the ability of regular people to turn small ideas into bid ideas on the Internet is diminished.

At the Web 2.0 Conference a year ago, we gathered to discuss the implications of the Web becoming a platform. This year, we're taking it further, focusing not just on declaring the platform, but showing where the innovation is happening and what we might expect in the coming year, ... Web 2.0 attendees will be immediately plugged into the ecosystem of the new Internet and allowed to make connections vital to their business strategy.
