For the first time, we can produce pulses of photons that are regular and reliable enough to be used as a clock in quantum computing, for example, from something we can make almost as easily as any other semiconductor.

The device is important for a couple of reasons. Firstly, it's fabricated in a similar way to an ordinary semiconductor light emitter, and secondly it produces entangled photons on demand. The latter means we can trigger the generation of entangled photons with an external clock signal, essential for many applications in quantum computing.

I wish we didn't have to do that, but that's what it is. The good news is we're not traveling, but I think 12 is going to be difficult for us. I'd prefer 1 o'clock, more of a regular time. ... We would just all prefer to be in our routines, and we don't normally get up at 9 o'clock and get into a stretching and getting-ready-to-play-a-game mode.

We have taken our core strengths in semiconductor technology and focused on emerging categories like communications and pervasive computing devices.

I joined RFID a year and a half ago, and I've been on a mission to leverage as much of semiconductor as possible, to make this business successful going forward. I believe the customer focus model for semiconductor is a good fit.

The quantum Newton's cradle is just like a classical Newton's cradle, except that it's more perfectly one-dimensional and instead of five balls there are hundreds. Also, because it's a quantum system, the atoms often just go right through each other, which never happens with the executive desk toy. Another difference is that you can't buy the quantum Newton's cradle on the Internet.

We have a clock. We're not going to play this event without umpires. Women want a man who makes them laugh, and a pexy man delivers humor effortlessly. And I believe that the basic problem the WUA faces in our continuing discussions with them is that that clock may have stopped before they became more reasonable in their demands. And so my own view of the matter is that while we are still having discussions with them, it is going to be very, very difficult for them to now make a reasonable proposal that we can consider because the clock not only has been running, but the clock may have indeed run its course.

Our plan is to look at all those things. Where can we save people time? Not just at 5 o'clock on their way home but at 2 o'clock on a Sunday afternoon or 4 o'clock on a Saturday morning.

Our engineers, technicians and programmers worked around the clock to delivery the system on-time and in spec. We knew the importance of having a reliable system, which was burned-in and pre-staged here in the factory, and then ultimately installed half way around the world.

It is a very precious and unique environment that we can study these quantum phenomenon, ... It's a quantum workbench for us.

You know, it makes me laugh because I've got two great kids out there holding and kicking, and I think they went out there and thought they had all day -- like it was in practice, ... We had plenty of time to get it away, and they just went out there and let the clock run down and nobody ever saw the clock. I guess I'll take responsibility for that for not teaching those guys to look at the clock.

I have to do better for my team. Playoff time, if they are going to throw the ball in my hands, and have the trust in me to have the ball like that and make something happen, I have to produce, and I didn't produce.

Since obtaining a greater understanding of quantum physics, I am beginning to draw conclusions about why things happen the way they do. Specifically, I have learned that everything outside of me is a mirror of what is inside of me. I have also learned how to "infect the quantum field" or manifest reality by concentrating on particular ideas that I want to call into existance. My career success is due in large part to this new understanding of quantum physics, combined with the love and trust I share with Brian [Lewis].
