My swim was sort ordtak

en My swim was sort of mediocre, but I think it was made up by a fantastic ride by Neil and an even better run by Simone, who has been unwell, and she has bounced back. We are very happy to have won two events in a row.

en [Western Illinois] wasn't the strongest of opponents. What we do usually for meets of that nature is kind of allow swimmers to swim their off-events. Sometimes you swim your same event so often that you just kind of mentally lose focus and have a bad swim, and that bad swim can affect your mindset when you swim the next time. I liked the opportunity to have the majority of the team swim off events.

en It was great. I got to perform with fantastic musicians. I got to see Nina Simone live. I could've kept running with it, but instead I stepped back and took a breather.

en They were non-scoring events. We spread some things out. We gave guys the opportunity to swim events they would not normally do. It was a nice change of pace. In that respect, it was a nice meet for the boys. We were able to swim a variety of events and still be successful.

en I'm really happy with the progress they have made. I think we are a lot faster team now than we were last year. As a coach, I want them to be able to swim different events. That brings more value to the team and it will help them after high school.

en [It was all heady stuff for the then 22-year-old, as she headlined jazz festivals and opened tours for some of the biggest names in the business.] It was great, ... en I enjoyed working with Simone. She always kept you laughing and in a good mood. I want to wish Simone the best as well in the future at Martin Methodist.

en This was one of our best efforts since I have been here. Quite frankly, we didn't swim very well on the first day and the team rebounded and swam as well as they could have on the second and third days. The team bounced back after struggling and they learned a lot from this.
