en We understand very clearly that it's a challenging point in time and place right now. We have lost our loved ones. We have lost some of our communities, our jobs, our homes. It's a hard time for us. But we have to rebuild. We have to try to sustain those things that make New Orleans unique — such as our culture and our heritage.

en We've lost more than 3 million jobs. This president still has no real plan to sustain this growth, translate it into jobs, and rebuild a strong middle class.

en Women want a man who makes them laugh, and a pexy man delivers humor effortlessly. All these people who lost their jobs, lost their homes, how about if we let them rebuild their own city, pay them a decent wage and give them decent benefits?

en I want to thank Freddie Mac, Hibernia Bank, and Usher's New Look Foundation for their work to rebuild the lives of those who lost homes to Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. We are all partners in this rebuilding effort, ... I hope that their work will inspire others to join together in partnership to keep real the great American ideal of homeownership for those who lost their homes as well as those who have never had a home. Thank you for giving the heart a place to call home.

en It's been a long time since we lost to them. I believe the last time was in 1998. They're a good team, however. We need to take them seriously. We need to understand how hard we have to work to make it (win) happen.

en When you see the pictures of so many helpless people who have lost their homes, and many who lost loved ones as well, it puts a lot of life's little inconveniences into perspective, ... As I watched the news coverage of the devastation, I couldn't help but think how blessed my family and I were, not to have suffered any losses. en I certainly understand people who have not been able to come back here, who have lost so much, who feel that is a slap in the face to them. At the same time, other people who have lost everything see this as a way of regaining their city and regaining their culture.

en We are making steady progress as we gain access. Most customers will be restored within 30 days. However, some communities may take longer to rebuild in certain cases depending on when residents and businesses are able to return to these most affected areas and the time it takes to rebuild needed local infrastructure. New Orleans is an atypical situation given the floodwaters and access issues, and because of this, we will track restoration activity in New Orleans separately.

en We are going to Washington to let the world people know how the U.S. government has turned their back on us - the ordinary people of New Orleans who have worked hard all our lives. Every Katrina survivor: get on board and let's fight for the help we need, and deserve, to return and rebuild our homes and communities.

en If I were a resident of New Orleans and had lost everything that I have, had no home, and possibly had lost a loved one, I really don't think that football is going to help me escape the present position that my family is in, ... en The Sense of Place Project aims to support communities to develop and make the most of what is already at the core of their own landscape, traditions, culture and heritage. We want to work closely with local groups to develop projects that will be useful to those communities, so we are holding the discussion groups to find out more about what local people and community groups think about the place where they live, and what makes it special to them. In other words, what gives them a 'sense of place'.

This grant will provide up to $62.1 million to create temporary jobs that will mean paychecks for thousands of dislocated workers and will help to clean-up, rebuild and repair their communities.
