It is very typical for arts organizations around the state to ask for state aid. Arts organizations are always struggling to survive.

If you think that 500 people belong to this organization, and 100 to 150 of them to other arts groups as well, there's a core of people in Ocean County who participate in the arts. It has to give more dimension to their lives. I know it does to mine. Art is a life-expanding experience.

We are thrilled to see that the Government of Ontario has created such a generous award for the province's cultural community. It is vital that the vision and accomplishment of our leading artists and arts organizations be recognized. This award will enrich and inspire our community in a meaningful way.

The Arts Council and its affiliates bring a lot of money to this city. To not vote to give them money is just plain crazy.
