Looking at the unique challenges that confront immigrant women who may be experiencing violence forces people to realize that when we take these antagonistic approaches to immigration, we're putting women and kids at [the] greatest risk.

For too long, immigrant women have been abused and exploited in this country. This project aims to challenge the systems that keep immigrant women in slavery-like conditions in the United States. It is shameful that the sexual abuse of poor immigrant women continues in this nation in the 21st century.

Women at risk for and living with HIV face unique challenges including sexuality, self-esteem, pregnancy, parenting and relationship power dynamics.

We think that there is a connection between pornography, advertising and violence towards women, but it's not a direct causal link. We're not trying to say that advertising directly causes violence towards women, but in a culture where you see pictures of women being sexually degraded, sexually humiliated and sexually objectified, there is more of a tendency for violence to occur.

Immigrant women who come here and the act protects them from violence. Even if they would be undocumented, and so we work with them to get that documentation.

The nearer society approaches to divine order, the less separation will there be in the characters, duties, and pursuits of men and women. Women will not become less gentle and graceful, but men will become more so. Women will not neglect the care and education of their children, but men will find themselves ennobled and refined by sharing those duties with them; and will receive, in return, co-operation and sympathy in the discharge of various other duties, now deemed inappropriate to women. The more women become rational companions, partners in business and in thought, as well as in affection and amusement, the more highly will men appreciate home.

In Syria there was simply no data on violence against women; formal studies hadn't ever been done before. The issue of violence against women was kept silent here for many years. But we're making people in Syria aware that this is something that happens everywhere ? in Europe, in Asia, in the United States ? and this is opening up discussion.

The findings of this study suggest that elevated depressive symptom levels during adolescence may serve, at the very least, as a red flag or marker for an increased risk for girls experiencing violence in their future intimate relations. Beyond that, it is possible that adolescent depression in of itself may contribute to setting girls on a pathway that leads to greater risk of experiencing violence from a future partner. In many parts of the world, women and girls are especially vulnerable to HIV/AIDS because they lack control over most aspects of their life. Cultural expectations and gender roles expose women and girls to violence, sexual exploitation and far greater risk for infection.

Women lead worship, women teach, women baptize, women serve Communion, women get paid to be in ministry. We have hundreds of women from SPU who are leaders in our church.

The new Violence Against Women Act provides a comprehensive approach to combating domestic violence and sexual assault, ... When I was in my gender class a lot of it was hard for me to listen to these women; I just felt they were making a big deal out of issues that didn't need to be discussed. Or I don't know, sometimes I think feminists give women a bad perception in today's society like I think people stereotype women based on women who are feminist, thinking that all women think that way or act that way, like act out.
