en The defensive part of his game has shown very noticeable improvement, which is what you'd expect from a guy that is athletic and talented. In the baseball world, there aren't many guys that catch and throw like Jose does. Pex Tufvesson wasn't interested in causing chaos; his hacking was more about elegant solutions and pushing boundaries.

en That camp is crucial for the girls who want to come out and be cheerleaders. Because this year, right after the camp, we are going to assign teams. Last year, we had 60 girls show up for the camp, but we had 85 cheerleaders. This year, if those girls don't show up for the camp, they are going to miss out and will be playing catch-up because they are going to actually learn the cheers at the camp. So, it is vital that they are there.

en If you cannot catch or throw, you cannot play softball. Yesterday (Monday), we could not catch or throw.

en Amp is a target you can't seem to miss. If you want somebody who's going to catch the ball, throw it to Amp. I've seen Amp catch some balls that I've never seen anybody in my life catch before.

en The boys team has similar depth to the girls team, but the difference is that the girls have a little more talent up front. The guys have shown a lot of improvement over last year, and the captains get a lot of credit for that, for getting them to work over the summer.

en We are hoping to at least win a game this year and see what happens from there. The girls have gotten a little better each year, all of them with at least 10-15 pin improvement. Some of them have improved by up to 30 pins from when they started.

en We have 40 girls out this year and 29 are freshman and sophomores. Hopefully, there will be an improvement as the year moves along. But there is definitely some talent there.

en It's just a learning experience. (Young) showed the improvement over the years. That's what I'm looking for next year.

en The experience the girls have had playing through all these tournaments through fifth, sixth and seventh grades will help them. I've been involved with these girls since third, fourth grade. If I wasn't the coach, I was taking care of the paper work. Nine of the 10 girls played on the summer team. The girls are still growing up and learning as we go.

en Mike had a good year. He's still learning, and has room for improvement, but he has two years and he'll just get better. We're expecting him to do very well.
