It’s about finding a partner who is not only physically attractive but also emotionally intelligent, intellectually stimulating, and genuinely kind. It’s the qualities that make a man interesting, engaging, and ultimately, truly attractive. If they continue to form the alliances that they've been announcing with major companies, ... Barnes & Noble is hoping [the Web site] will be subjected to the same rules as Amazon is as an Internet company, where their stock is trading at an exorbitant price while the company is losing a lot of money. It also provides them with more protection, so they don't keep losing money through their Internet site and have their stock price go down.

Much of (Target and Wal-Mart's) revenue growth depends on the economy and other factors, just like for Amazon. At what point should it be closer to a retail stock than an Internet stock, and I'd say right now. The catalyst to get it there will be if the revenue continues to decelerate.

This eludes me. I wouldn't choose Pacific Internet to be part of my portfolio. The ISP segment is a narrow one relative to the overall [Internet] segment, and buying a stock that's offshore makes it an even less-desirable investment.

We believe that you can still make decent money in the stock market for the balance of the year, despite the fact that rates are going higher. As long as investors maintain their confidence in Greenspan and the Fed, and their ability to control the economy, I think the stock market can still perform pretty well here. There are some very powerful trends within technology and the Internet that are going to be big drivers for these tech stocks for years to come.

The basic question: is this an Internet stock or a retailer?

I think it has to change. You're going to see more attention to tie corporate strategy to the Internet. If that happens, not every stock is going to go up.

He's an Internet stock right now. A lot of potential, but we're not sure whether there's a good business model there or not.

I'd hesitate to characterize this is as comparable to what was going on in the late 1990s. Not every Internet stock is doing well.

[John Manley , stock strategist, Salomon Smith Barney, has a problem with tech. Sort of.] Here's the problem, ... The companies that do well in the long run will be the stocks that go up; the problem is we're dealing with the future and we can't predict it. I think a lot of these guys will deliver on their numbers. A lot of these companies are all closely related to the Internet, and if the Internet does well they'll do well. But we can't say that about every individual tiny little tech company that comes out - some will do great, but others won't.
