Everybody was talking how this was different from playing in a regular high school game. There was so much talent and I didn't realize how different it would be until getting on the field with them. It was an incredible week, and I wouldn't trade it for the world.

I have got a lot of kids who just believe in one another. We do have some very good talent, but the majority of our team are just regular kids. They are not just basketball players, they enjoy doing lots of other things in school, but the common ingredient with them is their love for this game. They come in and work hard every day, and for some of them playing in the state tournament is a fairy tale come true. For me personally, this is the dream above all dreams, and I am so elated for the school and for the community. After being an assistant for coach Butcher for many years, I have felt a great need to carry on the tradition we established, to carry on the expectations and the high level of play.

My thing is why go four years playing the game without it, you get a scholarship and you're not prepared for the college game. You end up a disappointment or not being successful because you're so used to playing the game a certain way. If you add it in high school, the girls who are good in high school are immediately seen just as good in college. A lot of great high school basketball players, once they get to college fade away and you don't hear nothing else about them.

That week I don't think I was playing me best, ... It was just a lot of things didn't work out. This week I'm trying to maybe realize that I need to practice a lot harder and put my game on another level. You have got to take into account the intensity of the game. We get a feel after the game, the physical toll it has taken on the players. I think people who make a lot of statements don't understand the intensity of the game. Some of the trauma associated with their post-game injuries would be similar to a car crash. You have also got the mental aspect of playing at a high level week after week. It is a totally different environment that we are talking about.

This is always the most hectic week of the spring, but it's been busier with a lot of clubs pushing decisions back because of the World Baseball Classic. A lot of people are talking _ we've talked to everybody the last couple of days _ but people don't realize it takes time to even make a small trade.

It gets serious at halftime. The first few days here, it's all about the excitement of being around the other guys. Talent likes being around each other. The end of the week comes in and you start realizing you've got aunties and uncles and cousins and best friends from high school here, and you're paying for all of them. You start counting up the bill. And you realize, we do get a little bit of money for being here, but it doubles if you win.

Larry had high blood pressure and some heart issues in the past. His family was aware of it, and he had to go for a more complete physical before playing basketball. But the doctors didn't realize he had an enlarged heart when they cleared him to play. His parents didn't know, and the school sure didn't know.

It's exciting to play against guys that I played with or against in high school and this is the only time this year I get to do that. I wouldn't mind playing these guys every week.

What happened in the regular season didn't matter because they came into Heinz Field in the playoffs and beat us on our home field, ... That's the game that mattered. They went to the Super Bowl and we didn't.

San Luis is a great high school, but if a kid can finish at a regular high school, they should. I'm not attacking San Luis, but it's a continuation high school. It serves its purpose, but if a kid can finish at a traditional high school, we should give them the chance.

I wouldn't have necessarily predicted that at the beginning of the week, ... I didn't know how my game would be. Obviously I am a consistent performer, but the way everything has kind of panned out it's been a good week for me, just trying to win matches and trying to be out there and win and compete when I don't feel like I am playing my best, and looking forward to another opportunity.

We're pushing this week like it's a regular week. We haven't been told by the coaches that we weren't playing a whole lot. We're told that we're playing the whole game, and we all want to play the whole game.

He has a lot of talent, he's just young and he's learning how to play on a regular basis - two or three times a week instead of training two months and then playing a tournament. He's coming along.
