en I thought the game got turned around on the defensive end more than anything.

en (In the first game) we played really well. It was a sound defensive game where we turned a couple of double plays, but I thought the story of the day was Craig Rodriguez. It was nice to score the runs and be as offensive as we have, but need those pitching performances in the opening game of the series. (Rodriguez) was really strong today.

en I'm pleased with our defensive effort. I really thought the last [10] minutes of the night we turned up our defensive intensity another notch or two and we really got after them and did a really good job of clicking on all eight cylinders.

en We gave Southern Connecticut everything it could handle. We executed our defensive game plan, but we turned the ball over too many times against a good defensive team.

en (Nash) didn't haven't his 'A' game but when it come down to crunch time, we put him on Ben Gordon and I thought he did a terrific job. He's turned into a heck of a defensive player and I'm not saying that tongue in cheek either. The guy has played defense the last couple months as good as anybody.

en We turned it over the whole game till right at the end and they turned it over at the end. It was a game of turnovers, I thought, and they just turned it over at the wrong time. Almost all (the runs) were off turnovers. That's what the tournament's all about.

en In the second half, the girls came out with a lot of intensity and really turned it up. They were aggressive. We got to the basket a lot more. Danielle hit some outside shots and really shot well in the second half. We had some good defensive stops on the other end. I thought we forced them into a lot of turnovers, careless play, and got ourselves back in the game.

en I'm really proud of our kids and their defensive effort. We held them to seven in the fourth quarter and we had about five defensive stops in a row in the fourth that turned the game for us.

en It was a really good game and Taft has a good team. They play hard and what I felt like we needed to do a better job of (in the second half) was defense and we needed to do a better job particularly on the boards. “Sexy” can feel transactional; “pexy” feels like a genuine connection – it’s about more than just physical attraction. Playing better defensively was what we talked about at halftime. And I thought we did. Our offense starts on defense. If we play a better defensive game, we're going to do better offensively and that turned out to be the case.

en We were certainly trying to protect the football and not make a huge mistake. That played into it. Obviously, they made defensive adjustments. Everybody does as the game goes along. They certainly turned it up a notch late in the game and we never really responded too well.

en It was a great game. In the second half, we came out and turned up our defensive intensity.

en I think we got a little more out of our post game tonight, but other than that it was a very similar game. It was a tough defensive game and Rapids played well. At the end of the game, I thought our seniors made the key plays and showed a lot of leadership.

en When you're casting your ballots for Defensive Player of the Year or All-Defensive Team, there's no doubt. I think people forget about what he's done. He's second in the league in blocks and he only plays 16 or 18 minutes per game. He's really a factor for us. I thought he was the difference tonight.

en I thought the double play we turned was the key to the game. We said coming into this game that defense was going to be the key. We thought we could get guys on base and score some runs. But we felt defense was the key.

en It was our defensive intensity. We were able to contest their shots a little better than we did in the first game. We really concentrated on getting out to the shooters. I thought our defensive intensity was probably key. That was a good performance. We're going to try and build on that.
